U can go royal purple, if you can afford to dish out over 6 bucks a quart every 3000 miles. It's really up 2 you.

If you want a cheaper than mobil lubricants but just as good - check out imperial/exxon/esso xd-3. Its available at esso bulk sales in Canada. Mobil is made by imperial oil and xd-3 extra is problably made in the same plant.

Are there imperial oil bulk lubrincant sales in the US?

I know it's been talked about, but It couldn't hurt to get an updated concensus. What wieght oil is good? I've read 20-50 in summer and 10-40 in winter etc.

I run 10w30 synthetic all the time and never had a problem.

I run Castrol GTX 10w40 in the summer, and 10w30 in the winter.

i've been using mobil 1 synth. on my car for the last ~50k miles changing it at about 5k miles.

Those of you using synth., how long do you go between changes? 3k seems way too soon but 15k seems extremely long.
