Depends, how are you holding these revs up? Are you leaving the car in 2 and then pushing the stick into D? If so, your destroying your transmission.

The point of auto is not to shift, the 1, 2 are meant to keep the engine from shifting such as if your going downhill and don't want to wear out your brakes. The car is not meant to go from 2 into drive while moving, look in your owners manual or hell just search on here, manually shifting an auto is a very bad idea.

yah my friend was telling me that since autotragics are made to not shift, if you shift them, like someone esle stated before you can mess up the transmission really bad. if you do it every once in a while it prolly doesnt hurt that much. if you do it often though, better start looking around for a transmission.

Yeah and people have said its a bad idea, some people like to claim that it does nothing, but these same people complain of sluggish and sloppy shifting 6 months down the line. Short answer, don't do it. If you want to shift, get a manual.

Maybe its just me but shifting an auto does not improve your speed.

haha. In response to shifting an auto or doing neutral drops:
I did it in my last car and went through 2 tranns. I noticed that the more I did it, the faster it went out.... it sucks when reverse goes out and you gotta push your car out of parking spots! But if you keep doing it, don't forget to post when it goes out! Wonder how much abuse Lancer a/t can take....
