Follow up: O2 Bung Welded On.. Better Gas Mileage PIC+Vid

Had an O2 bung welded onto the downpipe.. extended the O2 sensor... things seem good now. Check it out... what mileage do you guys hit 3/4 a tank at? It feels better and 45-80 goes in a less than 8 seconds now.. at least it feels like

POST A COMMENT... Does it seem faster than the other video or is it just me?

well, I paused the video when the speedo said about 45 (near 4.5 sec) and then again when you let your foot off the gas at about 75MPH (nearly 16 sec of video) so that's 11.5 sec from 45 to 75 with 2 automatic shifts. it looks better, but I wouldn't go claiming any titles with those times.
you may want to try manually shifting if you're actually going to race. That way you can actually get to redline. Not the best thing you can do to an auto tranny, but if you don't do it all the time, it won't destroy anything.

BTW- what's all that noise when you let your foot off the gas? Sounds like someone throwing handfuls of rocks at your windshield...

my bad, I thought you said it was an auto in the other post.

redlining isn't bad- we have rev limiters and these cars run so rich that having a moment where you're running extra lean isn't a problem.

I'll see if I can't get a vid of me going 45-80 for comparison.

That milage at 3/4 tank looks pretty good. If I'm a little heavy on the gas at times, with that header and testpipe it uses a little more gas or something. I get anywhere from 75 miles to 100 miles depending on how much I stomp the gas. But from 3/4 to 1/2 takes only about 25 to 40 miles.. and from 1/2 to 1/4 takes only about 50.. and then it drags out forever until I get my gas light at 280 to 320 miles.. so that means I used 10 gal of gas when the gas light came on.. so about 28 to 32 mpg.

^^ Thats a lot of laughing......

Anyway, milage looks good, haven't seen the vid yet. About redlining.... Now, is redlining at 6000 or 8000? I would assume its 6000 since thats where the red starts......

I know it sounds like a newbie question , but its one of those things that in all my reading, I never read probably cuz I never looked. No reason to - no interest in redlining and not really pertinent info ya know? But now I know and according to G.I.Joe, "Knowing is half the battle"
