Would you still buy an EVO??

Ok fellas take it easy on me, but I have a question. I've been an EVO fan since day one, and I've always wanted one, growing up in Jamaica we had all the EVO's so I was able to see the progression, but now with the one available to us here in the U.S I am not that impressed any more, to be honest I don't know if I like the "new" version, to me it seems as if got lazy with this latest installment and tried to just get something in. I know it's essesntially a VII with minor adjustments, but it doesn't move me like the III did or even the V (which are my favourites). To be honest if someone gave me $30K I don't know if I would buy the EVO. It looks to much like the Lancer, not that I have anything against the Lancer, I love my car but I just don't see anything special in the EVO that would convince me that it was that much better than my Lancer (yes I know the EVO has more power and all) but it doesn't have that same appeal anymore. And there are so many other cars out there now in the same price bracket and cheaper that are just as viable an option as the EVO

Anyway that's just my $0.02 let me know what you guys think about the latest installment and whether or not you feel did a good job, and if you like the new one or not.

Well, I for one live in the U.S. and have never seen any Evo's here. So I'm ecstatic about this one simply because it's here. If I lived in Europe or Japan it would be a different story.

Hmmm, I would suggest as soon as they are available, go and test drive US EVO and then come back to this thread and tell us what you think and how close those cars are!

Seriously. I don't know what cars you DON'T have there in Jamaica, but its human nature to want what you can't have, and once you've had it for a while, it looses its shine. I bet a lot of us, myself included, are jealous you've had the Evo all these years.

Off-topic, we have a very close friend of the family who was from Jamaica. She introduced us to Jam Lemonade (I LOVE THAT STUFF!) and stir-fried cabbage (its really good, I swear) among other stuff. Jamaican Lemonade is my favorite though. I think I'm gonna go make some now. YUMMY!

Thanks for your comments I guess I see your point, I defiently will be test driving one as soon as my dealer gets one.

By the way purecoda, I'm not too sure what you friend is calling "jamaican lemonade" we all have different variations of the same thing I guess but you should try a drink called Ting if you can find it

well i hear what your saying i really do, the look of the VIII is soft and even the VII is a little weak int the looks department i will admit the II and V are probably two of the most bad *** ones. and i would of loved for to keep the dish light look but when things come to america things have to be (for lack of better word) dumb down cause the style we're used to isn't close to the rest of the world . i feel on average the poeple would not accept the V and the VI maybe But the VII and VIII are good for america. but i still love evo cause i know for my 30 thousand i'am gonna get a car that still kicks *** and granted thier are others faster but who wants to drive a subaru anyway.

haha the beef paties and jerk chiken is the joint man i kill for that, a friend i work w/ was just down for the weekend his friends wedding but to make it short briught me back 2 cases of beef patties. werd to him

well same thing with me, in jamaica there is almost every car there, and you can get any car if u can afford it. my favorite is the evo 6, and my uncle has one, which i have drive in. the car a beauty. if the US dint have those damn restrictions on cars, i would have gotten the 6 or a skyline, if i had the money. but since i used to the 6, i have felt the power of it and i will be disappointed if the 8 is anything less.
