2002 Detroit Auto Show
Stolen from MotorTrend's website:
2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
After teasing appearances at auto shows and months of speculation, the Lancer Evolution VII has finally been confirmed for sale in the United States beginning spring 2003. This extreme, motorsports-tuned Lancer variant features a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, lightweight body pieces, and ferocious powerplant in pureblood Japanese form. The American market can expect the rally-bred sedan to make the trip almost entirely intact, with the exception of the 276-horsepower output: while that figure was originally thought to be reduced to 250 due to emissions and intercooler packaging issues, sources now say it will have at least 260 horses. Price is promised to be under $30, which puts this ultra-sports sedan in elite performance company. Expect Subaru is to counter with its potent WRX STi.

Awesome man.....thanks a lot!!
I consider Motor Trend to be a pretty reliable source, so this is REALLY awesome to hear. From the looks of it....seems like they'd be including the AYC and ACD. YAY!!
Do you have the link fer that?

On a more practical note, Gagnon advised that a new Lancer EVO, evolved from the race-oriented vehicle that appeared at the 2001 New York International Auto Show, will go on sale in about a year. This year’s New York show will feature a new, entry-level Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle described as “hot, hip.”

That sounds ominous to me -- a NEW lancer evo. Probably the GT-A, maybe offered with a manual option.. Did they show a regular Euro spec GSR at the New York show, or only one of the WRC cars?

But then why would they debut the Evo VII at the LA and Detroit Auto Shows?
Come to think of it....almost everything (with the exception of the motor trend article) I've seen in coverage for the shows hasn't said we'd be getting the Lancer Evolution VII....they just say we'd be getting the Lancer Evolution.

They want something that'll compete the STI.....The GTA will most definately NOT be compteting with the STI.
There's WAAAAY too many sweet a$$ cars for reasonable prices being debuted in the next year or two for them to water down the Evo to GTA status.
