Auto insurance question

Here is the deal, my father swears that if the insurance guy told him that whom ever is authroised to drive the car is insured. Therefor he took me off of the policy. Is that true? Because I would hate to be in a wreck and go into dept because he wants to save a fiew dollars each month. Are there any insurance guys here on evom?

? Sounds kind of funky to me, I thought insurance was in your name, not in the cars.

Im not too sure. For my auto insurance, my wife was put as the primary driver for the Lancer and I was put as the primary driver on my wife's car (1994 Ford Escort). Our agent said it would work out cheaper that way even though I never drive my wife's car and she never drives the Lancer. I'd just call your insurance company and ask them. I'm with American Family btw.

Do they have you down as a driver of that car or that is your whole point? I'm pretty sure that they have to know who is going to be driving the car. That is how they determine the rates. Teenage boys/men (16-24) are considered high risk and we pay more insurance.

I don't think your insured then, at least up here every person has to have their own insurance plan, that if you crash no one is to blame/is to be punished.

Youre covered the insurance is in the car not in the driver basically lets say you let your friend drive your car and while hes dfoing it he crashes it then you dont get insurance for that, what im trying to say is that anyone driving the car is insured like your agent said. The only thing is that they usually dont let people do that take the kid of the insurance because he/she has tickets and it would raise the premium for the whole policy, a lot of insurance companies ask you how many people have a license in your household and tell you you have to put them on the policy, but thats just so your premiums are bigger, Man youre straight your car is still insured dont even worry about it

You need to be on some policy for someones car in your family.. or else you can't drive it without a huge ticket/jail..

u arent insured, u have to be listed under atleast one car on your parents entire auto insurance plan.

suchas: if your household family has 4 cars, your dads name is listed as the primary driver for 2 cars, your mom for one car, and you for the cheapest insurable car, this way your not paying to insure the most expensive car, u are still covered under all 4 cars this way, but your only supposed to drive the car listed as your primary car, the others are supposed to be for emergency use only.

hope this helps
