this http://www.evolutionimports.net/

the only official importer of EVO VII...

they are trying to import a certain number so whoever is lucky gets one ...

right hand drive... no way... there are plenty Euro EVO VII with left hand drive... if you are going to pay that kind of overhead might as well get a left hand drive... unless you want the rarity of the righ hand drive...

Cheers

Yes, that's Evolution Imports. The Evo 7s will be LHD RS-II models w/ Recaros installed and Motec ECUs to allow passing emissions and returning the car's hp to ~280hp.

No, twin scroll is not twin turbo. A twin scroll turbo means the turbo housing has two separate openings or "volutes" in which exhaust gases can flow through going to the compressor turbine. In a four cylinder application 2 cylinders are assigned to each volute. This improves spool up, increases fuel economy and torque across the RPM range because the exhaust gases don't get sucked back into the cylinders that are trying to suck in fresh air for the next combustion. This is the simplified explanation. If you want more info, go here: http://www.cmmstudio.com/g/g-innovate_tsth.html

I have called all three Mitsu dealers within driving distance of me. They each say the same thing. They expect to have a "display only" showroom floor Evo VII in the second half of August, or Mid September of this year, at the latest.

I wish the guys trying to sell their Jap Spec cars would stop spreading the bull****. It really drags their rep down.

On another note, I may be the first person to put a deposit down in Memphis Tennessee. They are accepting deposits here.

I'll let you know when.

I called many local area dealerships. It seems a lot them are taking refundable deposits. However only 1 of them said that they would sell for MSRP. It's funny because the guy said how could he sell a Mitsu for over MSRP, it's not a Corvette, (he sells Chevy's also.) I just laughed because it was good for me. :headbng2:

Evo 8 Arrival Dates for U.S. Dealers

Ok folks, here is the latest news from the horses mouth....

The United States version of the Lancer Evo will arrive and be sold at U.S. Mitsu dealers in Jan/Feb 2003. It will be sold as a 2004 model.

It will be the new Evo 8, and will not have the ACD and AYC. But they are suppose to have an LSD in the rear. Confirmed HP will be 250-270 range. And of course they are still working to improve the front fascia to accomodate the inner-cooler.

Besides the Evo model, they are planning to release a U.S. street version of the RalliArt car, also a 2004 model. It will have a 2.4L engine, 150-170 hp, different paint schemes, a few other goodies, and be retail priced about $19k-$20k.

2004 is the model year the Lancer will go thru some cosmetic changes, probably just front and rear. I suspect a new version of Lancer would be about 2006-2007.

Well, that's all I know for now....

Cool Lancer when?

Alright guys. I've called a Mitsu dealer here in Dallas and they said the Evo will be in showrooms December 2002, with sales beginning Jan. 2003. And yes they have taken deposits. And they think it will be the Evo VIII not the VII, based on Mitsu. They also said the car is having problems at present passing the crash tests and so the Evo VIII is being designed to account for this, i.e. the front fascia. But they also said it will be a 5sp., not a 6sp, but all the rumors of the VIII and latest JDM Evo VII are 6speeds. What gives here? It seems Mitsu may be murking the waters because they don't know which car they'll have ready or legal by the supposed release date. Or if that date is set in stone. If anyone on this site works for or is buddy-buddy with someone in Mitsu and in the know, please clarify since I want the Evo and want to know when to purchase. If I had the choice I'd wait for the VIII with the 6sp.(hopefully slicker than the present 5sp), greater torque and more agressive suspension and looks. Hey, might as be extroverted all the way. Plus, any news if Mitsu will give the Zero Fighter Package/Extreme as a future option?

We all know the Evo is incredible, and for the money out of this world. And Mitsu needs this for image, so it'll be causing havoc on the roads of the U.S. at some point... but I want the details now. So please, enlighten me.

I doubt we'll see either one of those hopped up Evos for a long time if at all considering (at least the Extreme version) is done up by Ralliart UK. We're supposedly getting a Ralliart USA but we'll have to see.

Unfortunately there are no details. The info. your dealer gave you may or may not have been a massive load of crap. I refuse to believe anything that doesn't have a press release backing it up, there's just WAY too much BS flying around this forum to believe anything that doesn't have something in writing backing it up.

Be patient grasshopper, knowledge comes with time.

Cool Evo BS

Unfortunately, I think you're right Hooby. There are just way too many BS rumors flying about, and what really takes the cake is that even the press releases are fueling the rumors. Piecing all the press releases together, it seems that the Evo will be here sometime between Jan and summer of 2003, although more sources say Jan. Performance is up in the air, but it seem 250 ponnies or more, and it will be the RS model. Now, most of the releases say the Evo to be arriving will be the VII, but economy of scale and the release of the VIII in Japan actually make it more likely to be the VIII, unless Mitsu wants to clear out the remaining left-hand drive VIIs and beat the STI to the States. Will see. But, although anxious to get behind the wheel of an Evo and park it in my garage, I will try to be patient Master. What ever comes our way though, will sure to be wicked... I can't wait to burn ****** in their M3s and Z06s, and with a few mods, 911 Turbo ****** too

Pjal, thanks for the ray of hope with the possibility of a RalliartUSA. All I guess I can do now is pray.
