Congrats. Podium finish and top 50% in PAX is definitely climbing the ranks. Sometimes I wish I could find a region smaller like yours. Not because I would get better positions, but because it takes way too long to give three runs to 300 drivers!!!

and in my opinion with 6 years experience in autocross, no reason for steelies except that it's a tough and cheap wheel to race on. This way, he can put softer tires to race on and still have his stock rims to drive daily without destroying his race tires. I'm sure as he mods his car further, he will look into getting some lightweight rims, but for now he is focussing on what he needs to focus on... the driver.

nice work!!!

What tires are those? They look like an Advan from the one pic where I can see some tread (and you're looking for a tire sponsor in that second pic, huh ) where'd you pick up steelies for an OZ and how much? I need some 15x6.5s to fit the Kumho V710s I inherited

Thanks everyone and for the questions:

Urban is right about the wheels... when i started autox i couldnt see droping a lot of cash on wheels when didnt know if i was truely going to enjoy this or not (plus they are very cheap). Plus i need an extra set of wheels as i get snow here and need to drive on all weathers. This way i get to save my tires for the track. I tried for like a month and a half to get an extra set of oz wheels but no one was getting rid of them at the time. In the end i bought these from Neal at tirerack (great guy and would definatly buy and recommend going through him). The tires are the old falken azenis, once i move up to fsp or stx (havent decided which) I will either pick up another set oz wheels, buy some other 15x6 wheels (slipstreams or the like), or buy some 16-17s for the street and use my old oz wheels.

Good luck to all who get into this... it is very addicting and very fun.

edit: and as for the evo... the guy is just showing up to watch... in my entire 2 years at this ive seen only 2 evos come and they came to seperate events... kind a disappointing... I would really like to see them run more

I was gonna say looked like the Falken RT-215's... good choice of tire. I'm running the RT-615s but both tires are the top of the class. I have to say great work. All i have to say is the more seat time you get the better you will do.

I have baffled a lot of people about the potential of the lancer but its flat decient torque curve really helps to attempt to even it out with the hondas and celicas that i run against where i autocross.

Keep up the good work.

As for the stx or fsp, i have been contemplating the same question... where as i have not had a lot of problems with wheel sign with my sticky azenis I cant really fathom only doing a limited slip and going to STX, so i'm thinking LSD AND lightened flywheel for fsp which i think would be a lot of fun. Plus R-compounds are always fun to race on... all i have to say about that is hoosier daddy.

Either way best of luck and kudos to your choice.

if I can voice my opinion on STS and STX as well, the STX class is just recently taking off, so the times between STX and STS will spread apart more. The fact that you can't get anything wider than 225 in a class that allows I believe up to 245 on AWD turboed cars worries me a little. At least in FSP you're competing with similar power and only have to worry about a weight disadvantage. However, I still believe the Lancer is most competitive in H Stock, followed by STS, then FSP, then STX. It's a piggy car in all of them, but I'm just stating where they have the best chance considering.

But that's why I went back to stock. I bought an engagement ring and am just going to whop around in someone else's ride or in my Lancer in HS just for kicks, then save up for a Spec Miata or the like.

i thought u could go LSD in stx? if that not the case im going FSP... the only reason im contemplating STX is b/c in FSP only 1-2 cars tend to show up... and my times now are on par to win that class most of the times
