Need Major Help: Battery Mishap
well, i was a dumb *** and decided to add a yellow top optima battery to my car..cool **** huh.. well..i was a total ****ing dumb *** and didn't pay attention to the + and the - side...****ty enough, they're reveresed from the normal batteries..well i hooked it up and got a gnarly spark and couldn't figure out for a few seconds what the hell happened because now my lights and everything was on but i had everything shut off......so i took it off and realized i had the **** backwards...well on the battery cables they have this little box on the + side and i noticed the fuse inside of it was blown...what purpose does that thing serve...and what is the likely possiblity that i ****ed my car up?
yea buddy if it werent for that fuse you woulda ****ed it up worse ... i think as long as you replace that fuse your straight ... fuses are their to blow so that you dont let the smoke out the wires and since it was your battery
...well lets just say your lucky it was just the fuse
If it tripped the fuse you're probably ok. I was giving a guy a jump start once and let him connect the cables (bad idea) and he started to do that. The sparks jumped and he corrected the problem. I wanted to deck him but my car was fine, so no big deal.

well here's what's weird...the car starts...the lights turn on only when the key is in the accessory or turned on, all locks, windows only work when car is on..the clock is dead, my radio is dead, my dome light is dead..but all my dash lights work as well as lights to my window up and down switch..the car runs..but the idle is at like 400rpm..it's really acting weird like it's possed.
sounds like you blew your iod fuse. open the fusebox under the hood, and check them they are 10a fuses. your low idle problem, disconnect your battery again, then remove your isc motor, and clean all the carbon off of it. some brake cleaner works well. also spray some into the throttle body holes and make sure all of the sealing surfaces are clean. reinstall your isc, reconnect your bat then start it up. it will idle low for a while but it will recallibrate itself.
