Wait... I thought the site's name was LancerForums.com, not LancerEvoForums.com... hmmm...
Well, let's see, my Mirage is the exact same thing as the Lancer except with a different motor... I think that's closer to an Evo than a Subaru or a Civic...
But the way Evos are talked about here, it's just hilarious. Why are Subaru and Honda owners and whoever else talking about Lancers?
That'd be like me going to PureHonda.com and talking about a JDM Civic SIR like an ignorant fool cuz I dont know all the stuff associated with it. That would be like a Nintendo player going to a Sony Playstation site and talking about how he's wondering about a mod chip. It doesn't make sense.
Did I say my Mirage was a Lancer Evo? No. Is it the same thing as a Lancer? Yes.
I mean, why set up a site for Lancers and domestic Mirage owners when all the base people are Subaru owners?
If you dont like Lancers or Mirages, why are you here? What's your purpose?
Why don't you go start a Subaru site instead of LancerForums.com to talk about Subarus and how you hate Lancers and how they look better than Subarus and kick their *** in the rallies consistently. Sounds like you're bored or something, I'm here to talk to people who know stuff about Lancers so I can figure stuff out for my Mirage, and talk about a car that I wish I had the engine of.
If you dont like Lancers... why are you here? That is the main question.

First off, relax.
We dont dislike Lancers at all, but you must admit that the Evo is the pinnacle. This site is just getting started and people are working hard to get it off the ground. If you enjoy your Lancer why not post some good experiences. Yes, we all like Subaru, but we all like Mitsu as well. Maybe it's the rally background that makes us want to be a part of this site.

I think non Lancer owners have to understand that this forum isn't only about the Evo, but it's for the upcoming US Lancer as well. The Evo is just the top dog that everyone is going to want. I think that the US Lancer guys will have to understand that there's a lot of hype and excitement about the Evo and up till now there hasn't been anywhere to discuss it.

Maybe I should create another forum for General Evo topics since the two models really don't share much at this point. That way the topics won't seem so cluttered for the current Mirage and upcoming Lancer owners. Sound good?

Wow, that kinda rhymed.
Calm down junior. This place is barely days old.

What's up with people on LANCERFORUMS.COM showing off their stockish Honda Civic Sis?
because this is a place where people interact with eachother and to date I am not aware of any anti-Honda rules. Personally I rather like the diversity that is beginning here. I don't own a Subaru or a Honda, yet I have it very enjoyable to interact with the people of both I-Club and other Honda sites and found them to be very helpful in providing information on many different subjects. Don't forget that the Lancer is still just a car like any other, and uses operating systems and components just like any other car. You would be surprised how much insight a person who knows a lot about cars in geenral can provide.

And people talking about engine swaps on Mirages as if they were born yesterday... damn, I guess I'm just not use to this degree of ignorance.
People have to learn at some point oin time. How do you expect one to learn about a swap without asking questions? It is not ignorance. It is actually the exact opposite.

I guess this forum has to start somewhere, and then knowledgable people like me have to come here and set things straight. This site is about as Lancerish as my friend with a turbo Civic hatchback.
Why don't you give this site more than 4 days to see where it goes before making ignorant generalizations and assumptions about this site's future?

Of course it makes sense. This is a Lancer community and people came here to learn about the Lancer, and mainly the EVO. Excuse us for coming to what is so obviously a great resource for Lancer information and trying to learn something, because we all that the obtaining of knowledge is the ultimate sign of ignorance.

Did I say my Mirage was a Lancer Evo? No. Is it the same thing as a Lancer? Yes.
I mean, why set up a site for Lancers and domestic Mirage owners when all the base people are Subaru owners?
because this site is only a few days old and the I-Club was one of the first places to hear about it. Nobody intentionally based it on Subaru owners. Anybody is free to join by my understanding. There are no rules of marque discrimination as far as I can see.

If you dont like Lancers or Mirages, why are you here? What's your purpose?

here comes the generalizations.

Not everybody came here for that purpose, and those who have are the minority.

I'm here to talk to people who know stuff about Lancers so I can figure stuff out for my Mirage, and talk about a car that I wish I had the engine of.
If you dont like Lancers... why are you here? That is the main question.
That is good for you. Most of us came here to learn as well, and to help out where we can. Most of us do like the Lancers. i know I do.

Yes this is a lancer forum, but it just so happens that the majority of the people here NOW are interested in the EVO. Eventually this site will pick up and more mirage owners will show up, but for now we all want the EVO. Oh, and seixon, sorry to tell you but your mirage has almost nothing in common with the EVO. Don't even try to tell me that because you are a mirage owner you somehow have some sort of knowledge about the EVO that I can't have because I'm not a fellow mirage owner. I know next to nothing about mirages, I could care less. All I know is they are FWD(don't even have any sort of lsd), have low power little n/a engines, and don't even share the same chassis as the EVO. Now what are you going to tell me about your Mirage that would have any bearing on the EVO. I don't want to sound like an *******, but you're the one who came on here and said people like me shouldn't be here. We're here because we are interested in the EVO and hope Mitsubishi brings it to the US. Like Mike pointed out, where else should we go to talk about the EVO.

KK, sorry to be arguing with this guy like that. I don't mean any disrespect to other mirage owners. It's just this guy trying to tell me(and others) that we have no right to be here, or even speak of the EVO because we aren't mirage owners.

Ben,

IMO, and for my money, Mitsubishi North America can *keep* the non-EVO Lancers...

I own a 1998 Impreza RS, and I'm in the process of upgrading it with a strengthened shortblock, trans and aftermarket turbo, since I started before the WRX was officially released here in the US, and I wouldn't want the new style WRX regardless.

Originally, though, I lusted after the EVO V after reading about it on www.rallycars.com . I began searching, and soon came across Sun International's webpage, and nearly had a cerebral hemhorrage when I saw what they were asking for a federalized EVO. $50-60K or more.

Currently, I have absolutely no plans to sell my Subaru. Should Mitsubishi NA wake up to the market demand for the EVO, the Subaru will have a Mitsubishi stablemate to keep it company not too long thereafter

If the OZ Ricer, er, "Rally" edition is the ultimate Lancer we poor gaijiin can ever hope to buy from Mitsu USA, then I guess I'll have to settle for buying a WRX Wagon to keep my RS company.

OK, maybe I was a bit harsh on you guys.
But I mean, I came to this site having certain expectations and then I go into a topic and some guy is like "hey, look at my car" and it's a pic of a really stock Honda Civic and I'm like.. "huh?"
The Evo doesnt share the same chassis as my Mirage? OK, maybe it's not the EXACT same production model, but they are virtually the same chassis, thus why I can easily make my Mirage look like an Evo. All I'd have to do is put the bodykit on it, and drop the engine in there and change the driveline. Not that doing this would be a very feasible operation... but I mean, it's the same car, just one has different stuff in it, which makes it a lot faster and different.
I don't know about Evos because I own a Mirage, I know about them cuz I have researched about that and I have learned this and that about them.
I never meant that you SHOULDNT be here, I asked you guys, WHY ARE YOU here if you're gonna talk about your Subarus and whatever else.
I guess I just had different expectations of what this site would be and I was horribly misled.
Yes, this site is very young, I realize this now, but still, when everyone responding to a topic says "I'm an i-club member" and that turns out to be a site for Subaru owners, I had to sit back and wonder what the hell this site was trying to accomplish.

That's because somebody posted a link to this new site on the I-Club before it was even listed on any web directories. So probably the first 75 members or so are I-Club members. Then the I-club went down for software upgrades and a lot of people were hanging out here in the mean time. Anyway, yea most of us are just here because we're into all things AWD, and have always liked the EVO. Eventually I'm sure this site will pick up and there will be all sorts of technical discussions from Mirage and new Lancer owners. Just sit tight.

I think we should limit posts to a certain number of characters or words or something ... reading those long posts makes my brain hurt

This topic is starting to become pointless, I'll leave it for now, but if it continues then it is history.
