stock lancer keeping up????

ok so i was going to pep boys to buy some oil for my car casue it's due for an oil change, and i was driving home, and noticed this little wannabe racer in an eclipse a few cars ahead of me. Naturally, since it's also part of the mitsu family, i decide to have a run at him. So i finally get behind him and he's lookin at me through his mirror and i'm smiling and edging him to punch it. Notice my lancer is completely stock, no mods what so ever, he at least had to have intake and exhaust cause i heard the intake. and maybe headers cause alot of smoke shot out of the exhaust when he punched it. Anywayz, i kept up with him the whole time. 1 car length behind him, i didn't have pull to pass so i was just following his line having fun until i had to turn on the street to get home. Now, i dnot know about u, but if a stock lancer could keep up witha lightly modified eclipse, 1 car length behind through all gears, wtf is up with that. It was an rs or gs eclipse , he probably thought he was bad cause i put my blinker on and turned on the street, truth is...i was just going home.

Exhaust and intake is barely modified, and if it was the 4 cylinder eclipse it's no surprise you kept up.

lancer is nimble, around where I live (country windy roads) theres like a 40+ year old guy who drives a modified neon. I catch him almost every morning on the way to work and keep up with him easy. (its a neon tho......) ive also been able to keep up with jettas. on windy roads although a lot is driver.

thats cuz they are fat porkers and underpowered 4s (n/a ones of course)... kinda like our cars... but they have a lil more power and a lil more weight.

I had a 97 GS, that thing was slow as crap. I had header, catback, and an intake. BUT I was auto so that makes a difference. You yeah you should definitely keep up with an eclipse, just as long as its an RS or GS.

Don't underestimate the Neon's ability to handle. The 1g Neons are seriously overlooked a lot of the time when it comes to handling. Power on the other hand....same boat as us minus a bit of torque.

That's because she's essentially driving a Neon engine in a Mitsubishi car.
