Recall worth it?

Since the new recall applies to the first cat, is it even worth going in to get the reflash if you have a header?

i wouldn't think so. i've had my car since dec '01, got the header in '03(i think), and i haven't been in for any recall and i'm doin good (crosses fingers).

I've already gone in for the fan controller recall, but that seemed far more important. This just seems pointless since I don't have my first cat anymore.

if you have a header this would be a mute point. but you might want to optimize your mods with an aftermarket ecu flash, is rrm still doing those for the lancers guys? im not sure if they are but im sure someone is if they aren't.

Not anymore, plus I'd need a custom tune, I have high compression pistons going in as we speak.

If you have a header, then I wouldn't get it as it has messed up more than a few of us with all the idle problems, and rpm hangs on upshifts.

The first cat is the one closer to the front end of the car right? The one that would be replaced with test pipe? only asking because I know that our cars had two cats and I know i had one taken out when I put in my magnaflow exhaust. just checking to make sure i'm not wasting my time with the recall. Plus i plan to replace the remaining cat with the RRM aftermarket one anyway.

First cat is replaced with a header, second cat is replaced by a testpipe. I think all you took out was a muffler and a resonator.

do not do the reflash...nothing but problems, especially on a modded car.

I got the reflash and it is actually a good idea.

I have many engine mods and still went and got it. I have the RRM header also.

The good thing is it turns your CEL off from the header, and it stays off (been driving a long time now since the recall). Plus the car seems to run better now with the CEL off. So if you have an aftermaket header, I'de suggest getting this.

I have a cel remover so a cels not a real problem for me. My main concern is that the reflash will mess up my engine, its bored 0.020 with high compression pistons and I'm not too sure how the reflash will deal with this.
