Has anyone ever heard/used Square Trade?

I just purchased a car, a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally with only 33k miles on it. It was on sale by a private owner named Mark Spencer. IDK if hes on here on not, i doubt it. Well...he sent me an email after i gave him my name and address...it was from square trade or squaretrade.com. I found the car off Autotrader.com for a GREAT price. When i recieved the email...the item title was listed as a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. No where did it say OZ Rally. Also, it was an 03'. The vin number from Autotrader stated it was a white 2002 OZ which is what I saw in the picture. In the email from Square Trade, there was no vin number posted, incorrect year of the car, and no where did it say OZ Rally. The price of the car was an Unbelieveable $5800 for an 02' with 33k miles. Square Trade (i believe) is supposed to be a consumer protection company. It is supposed to protect the consumer from fraud. However...Mark Spencer agreed to the terms of having a 7 day inspection period in which i inspect the vehicle like take it to a mechanic or somethin. If i dont want it...i can return the car. Have any of you guys had experience with Square Trade, or even heard of stories? I want to know if this deal is legit. I replied to the Square Trade Agent whos in Greece lol. But i dont know who to trust. Mark Seems to be rushing the deal. I said im interested in the car..he asks me for name and address and the next thing i know...i get an email saying i purchased the car and my payment is pending from square trade. Never sent the payment out yet. Advice is welcomed as well as experiences.

Sellers on EBAY use it all the time. I think you can use paypal through them also. They protect the seller and buyer. Its not a scam.
