I got leakage!
Exact thing happened in my protege. The passenger side started to have a puddle. Not as much as you described, but a fair amount. I had the underbody hole open because i was running a system, and a firewall from the engine back straight to the cabin was'nt availible. So i had to run it under the car into the hole under the passenger side carpet. One day i was driving(and of course i was'nt thinking about the hole), and i ran over a large puddle. When i looked inside the next day there was a good amount of water that was soaked up in the carpet.
Ait, the deal with my car, I took it in Monday mornin as they opened. They have had it ever since and will have well into next week. They found water coming from the front windshield area so they are tearin out the dash area and door panels along with takin out the carpeting to find the exact spot of leakage. So all I can say is, water leaks are damn hard to pin point and Im gettin hella irritated.
see if they could just give a new car
that would rock
but two weeks for them to find the water leak damn that is a long time Imo? hopefully it gets fixed though did they give u a loaner at least?

I've had a similar problem, but on my driver's side. Every time it rains water collects under my floormat, soaking the carpet. I thought maybe it was the fault of my alarm installer, but seeing that this may be a common problem makes me think twice. I will be taking my car to the dealer within a week or two for MANY problems (horribly noisy rear suspension, leakage, and squeaking bumper or spoiler). Let us know exactly what the problem is with your Lancer.
They gave me a rental car and I also told em I want the carpet replaced so they said maybe, then called me an hour later and said they just ordered my carpeting cuz they are gonna replace it. For once in a lifetime the service department is being real cool.
the verdict
I got my car back, I got my car back wahooo...and the verdict is, (drumroll please)..."The leak was found coming from LR of trunk outer panel." They replaced the strip adhesive, seam and replaced my carpeting, so now its all good...i just gotta pay for the rental car being smashed.
My OZ started smelling funky so I took it in. They looked for dead rodents (I park outside) and didn't find any so they a mildew treatment into the ventilation system and interior. Hope it works, I can't find a steam cleaner in this area.
im sorry for bringin this thing back from the dead but im havin the same type of problems. ive done my own water tests and i thought it was coming in from the grommet in the kick panel where i fed my 2 gauge through but i just sealed that up yesterday and now i have a leak again. i can see it coming down the corner where the clutch would be(automatic) but theres a little mat for the firewall and i cant seem to see where its coming from. any people have similar problems and solve them?
