trans leak
ok so today at school i brought my car into the shop just to practice doing simple tests. I have an 05 OZ rally and it only has around 9500 miles on it. i put the car on the rack and decided to look around underneath the car. I peaked at the tranny and noticed that IT WAS LEAKING !!! brand new car and theres already a leak ... has anyone else run into this problem ???
i used to leak like crazy from the trans. post the answers to these ?'s or PM me and it might make things a bit easier.
is it auto or manual? have you been beating on the car? is it overfilled? where exactly is the leak coming from?
...if it's between the trans/engine it's prolly a gasket. there's also your fill(manual) and drain holes, and the lower pan...make sure all of these are torqued properly. if the pan leaks-->drain fluid, take pan off and line outter edges with high temp silicone, bolt it back up....and if you managed to crack the bell housing i don't know what to tell you
seriously, best bet is to take it to dealer if it's under warranty. you've still got a baby in your hands. good luck

its a manual ... it looks like its a leak from the gasket ... its pretty small and i havent done too much crazy driving ... plus its BRAND NEW !!!!! so im bringing it in this weekend... i just wanted to see if this was a common thing among the lancers ... i asked the last time i brought it in and they said no and that they would look at it ... bastards never even LOOKED
tell them you want to watch them do the work. they might get offended like mitsu did out here but it ensured that they did it right...it's prolly a bad gasket. i had one of those in my hands...this is a cheap fix if mitsu doesn't do anything (but it's not permanent)...clean off the area and put some high temp silicone over the area where the gasket is leaking. that helped me out till i could crack the trans off and change the gasket.

ok so i brought it in ... they say that its not a leak ... im like WTF !! they said it was some black liquid and the tranny fluid is red liquid ... so they cleaned it off and didnt see anything and im all no shiz you dont see anything you just cleaned it off ... thats such bull ... im gonna start the drive train phase at school monday so ill see if they are full of it there and they will see me again
either way, your 05 Lancer should not be leaking fluid of ANY color. bring it back. don't leave until there is a diagnosis. call corporate if you have to. don't let them push you around.
red fluid from a manual is the clutch/brake fluid...the gear oil goes in as a brownish color, often turns dark brown/black(sometimes green)...your tranny shouldn't be leaking into your exhaust though. they are independent of each other.
ur right they are independent of each other, but the tranny can thro some drop onto the exhaust(not sure about lancers and how the exhaust is tho) to burn a white smoke, now he would only see it if he was lookin under the car and saw it drip onto the exhaust, but that does happen.
auto tranny fluid is red also here:

When i had new tranny fluid put in at 30k it was red.
