I've had this concern, too. Already we're seeing less and less of the only company that REALLY seems to give a damn about us- RRM. 90+% of the new stuff is evo related. All of the banner ads are for companies that will cater specifically to the EVO and might throw us a bone. The 04+ Lancer coming is kinda scary...
I guess it's up to us. If there's going to be demand for information and parts we're going to have to make that demand. If we can't buy it, we're going to have to come up with ways to build it and adapt existing parts. Collectively we have the technology, we have the ingenuity, all we need is the drive to drive faster and better.

In general I agree with engineerboy. This site is already being dominated by evo posts, advertisements, and information. I guess it was inevitable, but maybe the forums should be split to give each car its chance, but I honestly don't know, we'll have to wait and see.

Don't get me wrong, though. I agree that the evo IS an exciting addition to the lineup. It's just that I think that a lot of us who weren't going to get an evo/were happy with our cars to begin with were already sick of all the evo hype. I know I was. Now that it's here and I was already tired of hearing about it I'm even more tired of hearing about it. AND the change from pre-evo (herein for the rest of time AE (ante-Evolution)- the opposite shall be PE- post-evolution; be sure to change your calendars).. Ahem, that is AE with the occasional banner ad for decals and lancer parts to the very sudden PE evolutionm.net banner ad galore and lack of Lancer support/new info/ new parts has more than a few of us startled and worried about future tunability, and possible obsolescence of our cars (the same reason my parents wouldn't buy me a SuperNintendo).

ditto
i have no idea why companies aren't jumping at our lancers
cuz most people can't afford an evo so they get a reg lancer... plus the age group is much younger for the reg lancers . hence with a younger demographic you'd think that companies would jump at this... but still no...i hate to say it but the 2F2F movie might just end up helping us reg lancers owners out.

Almost makes you wish the forum was seperated into 2 different sites......I come here to find out stuff about the Lancer....now I have to wade thru all the evo stuff to find anything. Maybe when I have an extra $500 a month to buy an evo.....

My theory on why we have so little (still not bad in the grand scheme of things) backing:

People constantly ask for parts and then only a few buy them. It makes the sales look bad. We have more "I wish I could afford it" posts than "I just installed my ____" posts. Please, for the love of Pete, someone has to see this happening.

Our products we have so far work on both the Lancer and EVO 8. Aluminum Radiator brackets, Aluminum battery hold-down, front and rear engine mounts... and more products on the way. We'll support the Lancer if the Lancer community will support us. We have LOTS more things in the works, but so far not many Lancer owners seem serious about performance mods. We've sold FAR MORE radiator brackets than mounts, and we're really wanting to get into some other performance items, like those that we carry for the Neon, Eclipse, etc.

I agree with Andrew on this. You want the parts, buy em, and more like them will come.

Agreed

I agree with you Hobie.
There's a lot more whining about not enough parts than people buying the parts that we do actually have.
Many vendors have stepped up and offer many parts for us to strap onto out Lancers.
But the purchases will turn their heads more than just requests will.

Don't forget, Travis...In that PM I sent you I mentioned trying to set up a group buy on those motor mounts. Please do get back to me on that if you're interested. I know of at least 2 other people off the bat who would be down and I'm sure we could muster at VERY least 5.
