Powersliding

any suggestions on how to slide in a lancer es/ls? i know obviously suspension alterations would need to be made, and maybe getting an anti-sway bar while at it? please if anyone has some suggestions, please post them.

and... anyone know how to correcty say how to powerslide? no one has been able to tell me correctly how to powerslide so far.

You can't, its FWD. Powerslides are for RWD and AWD, the closest we can get is by pulling the ebrake.

AWD? It's awfully hard to break the rear loose. Over 90% of all AWD have a tendenacy to break the front loose (manufacturer's default). Only the 911 (turn off its AWD system) and Skyline (AWD is programmed to have slight oversteer).

When you read stories of Evo crashing to its demise on the board, you'll see the evidences of the front breaking loose first, besides objects clipping the rear.

If FWD can drift effectively, you would have seen platoons of H&A products in Formula D, instead of platoons of Silvia/240 derivatives.

BTW: FWD does it better e-brake in the rain.

ok yes hitting the ebrake is what a powerslide is. you cant drift though cause of the FWD. taking a corner, just as you turn the wheel, hit the ebrake hard till you start to slide then release the ebrake, stay on the gas. for practice, i'd suggest hitting an open or big parking lot when or after it rains. you slide much more and easier. very fun, then you'll get the hang of how hard to pull the brake, how much to turn etc, the physics of it basically.

OK, hi.

I'm going to make this one post, because I'm sooooooo tired of the people who pop off but don't know what you're talking about.

joberk3 - mod the suspension and learn to drive. you'll get the Lancer sideways with the wheels spinnin'.

bahamut - incorrect. I know Subarus are notorious for understeer, but the rear always breaks loose first on my car.

PS - on second thought, this is closed.

There are tons of drifting/powersliding the Lancer threads full of arguing.
