Cool Went to the track tonight

I finally went to the track with a couple buddies from work. Ran the first one and got a 17.8 . Go for the second time and hit 18.3. My buddies gave me a few pointers and said my launch and reaction need alot of work. Ran ALOT of times and eventually got 17.1-17.2 consistantly. My best run was as follows:

RT: .78
60 ft: 2.56
330 ft: 7.21
1/8 ET: 10.99
1/8 MPH: 64.64
1/4 ET: 17.02
1/4 MPH: 80.69

If i can find a scanner ill post up the timeslip. My buddies say that from what they saw i should be able to run a 16.8. I hope to go again and get some more practice, and try to hit high 16's. Oh and for mods i have Greddy cat back, Kamikaze header, DIY SRI, Mitsu grounding kit, progress springs, strut bar set from RDD, B&M shifter and Greddy shift knob. I got 17 in. MSR rims and Cooper Zeon ZPT's 215/45. I know it really isn't fast but i'm hooked.

Yeah. Our cars are slow. Don't feel bad. Keep trying but know that the best our cars will do without serious work is mid to high 16's. I won't even take my car to the track. I'll wait till I got FI.

Sounds like you're right on. My car was barely able to pull a 16.9 with an intake and reflashed ECU. Keep on having fun!

I dunno if it would get him down to 16.00, but it would help. And he already has the Kamikaze header/DP setup.

If it makes you feel any better, Nate - the fastest I even ran with my Lancer was 17.3. Most of my runs were of the 17.7 variety. And that was with pretty heavy mods. So you're doing a lot better than me!

Put your OZ rims back on the front for track days and get some sticky tires.

The heavier 17 inch rims bring in the unsprung weight factor making the engine work harder. That in itself might knock off a .3-.5 along with a better 60 foot. 2.5 anything is average. 2.3-2.4 is better than average. 2.2-2.3 is SUPER and would have you near 16.0

Yeah wadad is on the money. Get rid of those rims. The OZ rims are pretty decent actually and for our car perfectly acceptable. I'd love to have 17s for daily driving cause they look sweet, but on the track go back to 15s. Also engine management. Judging by your mods rrm's piggyback seems to be the right way to go
