He'd have to pay his deductable (which is probably more than the glass replacement), and then his rates would almost definitely go up. Not worth it IMO.

Damn... not to just join the chorus but remember from now on to remove your head unit from your car. Hell I just put it in my glove box. Good luck though man.

When i had my car broken into last year, they charged me $175 for my new window. Luckily for insurance though I have a $0 deductible on glass. $500 for if someone keys it or anything. But i have a $450 HU in my car and because of last year, everytime I leave my car I take of my faceplate and my $350 radar detector. Its just wise. I trust no one!

I had a 04 RS and my car was broken into the week that i bought it, eventough i didn't have a stereo, i think the thief thought the platic covering the place where the stero was suppose to be was a deck or something. I had full coverage glass on my policy so insurance fixed it, i didn't have to pay a dime.

Thats factory on subaru though. Not too many people steal factory. But good call on the detachable faceplate...

I am getting the avg from work. I work for one of the bigger insurance companies and I can look it up for just about anywhere. But like they said in here look around usually you can find it cheaper than what i said. The combined damage of the window and the h/u might be cheaper going through your insurance though cause all you pay is the deductable.

I never have had my car broken into, and I hope i never will. That is why I do not want to GA State University, it will increase the possibilities of getting broken into significantly.

Hey man, I feel for you. The SAME thing happened to me when I was on vacation in Denver seeing my parents. I got home and my driver window was shattered and my new Alpine 9855 was gone. The deck is about $500.....to top that off they broke the heater control so I claimed it all and so far I'm at $1200 in damage and it may still go up. It sucks BAD!!!!!
