Hey sorry for a useless thread but i'm really curious about something. when i was changing my oz wheel i found an enkei emblem on the back of it. along with a mitsubishi one. i know enkei makes wheels for the evolution but why would the enkei symbol be on the back of an oz wheel?

also, while i'm at it, i was trying to install a shortshifter the other day and i can not get the screw in the ashtray out. i tried for an hour and the thing won't budge. any ideas?

 

Yep, they're made by Enkei. Something about it being less expensive to buy the OZ label and not have to actually import rims from Italy (is that right?).

As for the screw, it shouldn't be in that tight. This is just a small philips self tapping screw right? Use some pressure to keep it slotted and try again.

Yeah, I guess they just didn't think it would sound as hot to offer the "Lancer Enkei Rally Edition"

 

yeh, oz is synonomus (spelling) with rally racing so its fitting a lancer would be an oz edition... all they did was stick oz center caps on enkei wheels. haha. enkei wheels are great anyways.

 

They didn't just "stick Enkei center caps" on the wheels. It's an OZ license design, manufactured by Enkei under license by Mitsubishi to keep costs down. It's essentially a Chrono Evolution.

if i remember correctly, OZ made or still makes one that is fairly similar. no idea on the name of the name of it, but i remember seeing in a magazine and online a while ago.
But then again,the design is fairly basic.

 

wow thats so weird. you would think if the car was named "oz rally" you would actually think that it would have legit oz wheels. i guess it says something in general about how accurate the "OZ Racing Rally Edition" name is on the car. oh well i love the car anyway. thanks for clearing that up for me.

damn i really can't get this ashtray screw to budge. what would motivate that mitsu worker to put so much effort into that little screw. any ideas?

 

well it makes sense. enkei is in japan and so is mitsu. why not have all the parts to make the car in the same place.

 

yeah, if you ever take out your rims to rotate or wash, you'll seen enkei written in the back of the rim...and they are 16lbs right?

 

They're about 15 lb. which is pretty good for a stock rim.
