Yeah, I know they collaborate, but that could mean that neither company is "tied" to the design and may be able to break from it if they wanted.

 

I wouldnt be surprised if Mitsu dropped the OZ and just had the RA and the ES. Mitsu isnt the healthist of automotive companies.

 

True they could, but it would not make much sense financially. The tooling and R&D has to be done so far in advanced, that DCX could not afford to just toss everything in the trash and start over with a clean sheet of paper. I do not know how much the platform cost to develop, but I remember them telling us that Project America (Galant, Endeavor, Eclipse) cost over one billion dollars to develop. If it is anywhere close to that for the new small to midsize platform that Mitsu and Chrysler will be using (and I gues Hyundai and Kia) none of them can afford to just scrap it until they run it for at least 8-10 years.

 

hmmm.... A Doshbundkia? I dont know if all of the companys will make use of the platform. Is the new Sonata built off of a shared platform?
