RRM pulley or RRM downpipe?

im about to be getting some money and want to do some mods to my car.

i dont want to spend a bunch of money so im looking for the less expensive parts. i know people are selling their downpipes so i can pick up a used one for like 180$. or i can spend the 120$ on the pulley.

for people that have both, what gives better power gain and/or better gas milege?

i know i nkow, power and gas milege dont work together but im trying to make it still ok to drive everyday and not make it like im driving a v8.

i dont want to put an intake on the car because i want everything that is visible to be legal, so a CAI would be 260$ and im not in a position to spend that much right now. and it becomes a PITA to change it if the car needs to go to the stealership to get anything fixed for warrenty.

so please, if you have both, let me know what you like more

downpipe would be the best one to buy first. you will feel it on topend. the pulley , well i don't really feel too much.

Well considering you have an ES I cannot really speak for that car. I imagine though the downpipe would have better gains.

ES/OZ/LS are all the same car. I'd go with the pulley, what mods do you have right now though? You can get a high performance drop in filter for your airbox which is an intake, but completely legal.

the dealership can't deny service just cause you have an intake. it has to cause a problem

go with a drop in filter if you want to stay visibly legal for cali inspection

you'll prob see slight gains from either pulley or dp but the pulley has gotten great reviews so maybe try that out first

what downpipe from rrm are you talking about. from what i remember reading, RRM did extensive research and found no practical gains from purchasing a downpipe for our cars

RRM only sells a downpipe for the Ralliart, last I checked.

PS - according to MY extensive testing (100% butt dyno, using the Buschur Racing downpipe), it does add gains. But no one believes me.

I took pictures about a hundred years ago and other people have noticed that the stock downpipe is smushed flat in one section. Anything that allows more flow must be better than that and yeild some gains.

I always suggest getting rid of the 1" pinch but nobody ever listens to me either.

rrm's website says it gives a ralliart 10hp they have 162 hp, we have 120. i mean its only 42 hp i know we can get gains from a down pipe. im gettign turbo very soon, and more and more lancers are going turbo we'd like a downpipe please.

Yeah but I thought that most of the gain was from getting rid of the cat (which on the RA is in the downpipe). I wonder what the power difference between a stock manifold with bashed-out cat and a shorty header is on an ES/OZ.

How hard would it be to have a shop make you a dp? I don't imagine it would cost any more than...oh wait never mind it looks kind of complicated on the RA...

i just looked at mine a week ago and the stock downpipe on my OZ looks so crushed and small. when i was having some work done an exhaust specialist said it definitely looked to be the most restrictive part of the exhaust
