well 2 weeks ago i got pulled over for having 'the wrong color turn signals'. instead of amber i had 'hyper white' on all corners, including my side markers. no, big deal i thought...itll juss be a fix it ticket..ill go to court and theyll be like ok, did you change the bulbs.and ill be like yah, then...ill go about my way. WRONG!! for any of you who have hyper white turn signals...be very cautious around cops!! i coulda swore they were legal in the front. and those are the lights he saw when he pulled me over. WRONG!! now i have an $80 FINE!! seems like BS to me! 80 damn dollars for that! going 15 over is almost as much! give me a break!!! but ill suck it up and pay the damn thing!! SOB!! have a good day everyone!!!

Well, it's best to double check local laws before swapping bulbs and (especially visible) stuff like that. Don't mean that to sound like an "I toldja so" cuz it's not.

On a side note: If $80 is whta you get for 15 over by you, consider yourself lucky. I got bagged for 15 over in MA and CT and paid something like 190 and 280 respectively for each ticket.

legally white and amber are ok colors for any front facing lights in CA. I've been ticketed for other colors and had a cop check out the rest of my lights...all were white and were ok by them. Sounds like you're just gettin' hassled.

 

nah, i dont see it as an 'i toldja so'. oh, well. and i was being somewhat sarcastic with the $80 and 15 over thing. my x GF was doing like 12 over and her ticket was $150. then theres always the cool $50 court fee. so our tickets were pretty much the same. i dont remember putting other people in danger with my lights. oh well. ill prolly go buy sum red bulbs for the rear now. yah, kiran..save yourself sum money and a headache.

I went to the local AutoZone and picked up a pair of "hyper white"bulbs and they turned out to be blue...so to us they are hyper whte and to cops they are blue....believe me, Ive been puled over twice before I changed mine out.

 

I live up here in washington 20 mins outta Seattle and havent really been bothered by cops about lights. I have white bulbs on my front fascia side markers and smoked out tails..(not altezza's) with special red bulbs from japan (no they are red, not that pinkish color when lit ). I have only been pulled over once by a trooper who told me the bulbs are fine the lens on the lights were OK. Know what the only thing he did have a problem with? No red reflector material in the housing...mine is a mylar like stuff. Thank god no ticket. I can see now how they could get spendy. guess laws vary greatly from state to state.
