Things to do........

My lancer just rolled over 12,000 miles, and ive been wondering what all I should do as far as maintaining her. Ive ran Mobil 1 synthetic since I first got it. All oil changes on time, every 3,000 miles. 1 bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner every oil change. Waxed and washed regularly.

This is the first brand new car ive ever owned and I drove it off the lot with 5 miles. I want to make sure it runs strong for as long as possible, and since im the only one thats ever owned the car I want to be able to say it was maintained beyond well if I ever decide to sell.

It's due for a new air filter, but ive decided im just going to get a K&N drop in since its good for a very long time with cleanings. I dont want to go with an SRI right now because of the warranty, and I just want to leave things pretty much stock at this point.

I also plan on rotating the tires on my first free day next week.

My question(s) are, what else needs done at 12k miles, and is there anything im overlooking that could prevent future problems?

Any products I should look into using (fuel system, engine, wax, anything) that you guys have found to be useful, and worth the money to use?

Do the 06 ES models come with a cabin air filter installed, or should I look into making one or buying one as suggested in another thread?

Im very **** about keeping my cars in tip top shape. I dont really want to rice it out, just clean, and at the top of her game.

I really like this car, and this board. So far you guys have all given me great info, and links to everything ive needed.

Thanks!

at 12k you don't have much to worry about. just keep up on the oil changes and tire rotations. it's not necessary but you can check your plugs. i highly doubt they are bad at 12k on econobox sedan

This is just for discussion basically about whats out there, and what everyone is doing to maintain their lancers. Ive had and worked on a few cars in my day, but this is my first BIG investment if you know what I mean, and id like to keep it a good one.

Thanks for the reply!

you aren't the first to ask that; it's adam from TBS

anyways, as for maintainence just keep up on oil, plugs, injector/full system cleaner is good to toss in every now and again, at 30k change tranny fluid/gear oil, keep an eye on the brake pads, etc. you know the drill
