Removing rear view mirror

Can someone tell me the best way to remove the rear view mirror that is attached to the windshield...without rattling it off with bass?

really it's a tough task as for the mirror look around for a little allen key hole and well twist it off but that's the easy part. cause it sitts on a metal housing peice that it glued really well to the windsheild so you'd need a solvent to get the glue off. Dont try to pry or hammer it off cause you'll take a chunk of windsheil out and if you do do that you better hope you only take the first layer and not go all the way throu....

It's easy to remove the mirror.

Grab the base and turn it clockwise 90 degrees. It will come right off. It's a cam type lock. Don't pull it. Just turn it.

The part attached to the windshield is permanant. The mirror itself attaches to this by the camlock.

I don't have or want any bass, I was looking to remove the mirror, not attach it. Thanks for the info guys. It comes off with little effort. I wanted to remove it so that it would be easier for me to apply a windshield visor/decal (ralliart). It came out very nice, but Im not quite sure I like it. I'll put a pic of it up soon.

The mirrors on the Evolutions and the regular Lancers are different. To remove a morror on a regular lacer you twist it at 90 degrees and it slips right off(hope you twist it the right way). On the Evolution use a rubber hammer to knock it streight up, no twisting involved. Never try to remove the glued on mount on the winshield, that's a lost cause, simply buy the mirror that fits the mount. A regular Lancer mirror is $32.
