insurance question

i saw on autotrader a bmw z3 roadster.it had about 39k miles on a 97 selling close to 13k not bad considering almost 10 years old. my question is will my insurance go up? i was told if its a safer car the insurance might be cheaper but insurance companies see this as a sports car so im assuming it will go up...

If you're comparing it to your lancer, yes it will probably be a bit more expensive. The parts on a BMW are not cheap, plus a Z3 is a sports car.

The Z3 is a 2 door roadster that was built ona track. Your insurence will almost double compared to your 4 door Lancer ES that was built to get groceries and take people to and fro in a gas saving fashion.

Wow, this is a funny thread for lancer general. It goes from insurance questions for a BMW, then hops to gauge pod questions.. lol.

Maybe maybe not. Insurance is totally subjective. Its all about the person, their credit, the length of time with the company, record. Obviously the vehicle performance has something to do with it, I'm not foolish, and I think its foolish to say the rates are all about the performance first.

I bet that Z3 would cost me the same or less than the lancer in insurance based on age of the vehicle 97 vs 2002

You're missing the point. The person, credit, length of time and record all remain constant.
But he's going from a car worth 10k to a car worth probably double that. That is going to cause his premium to change.

The 1997 Z3 in really nice condition and low miles is under 10k

EDIT: Check KBB.com
