Claudius, read this question...
Hi Mate,
Just was reading a post at the MLR site regarding boost controllers. Decided to go ahead and post a reply to the topic and had no problems. I thought that we were going to be unable to post due to membership disputes? Is it maybe because they haven't yet updated the system? I thought it was to take effect as of march 1st?
Maybe they'll just ignore our comments, or a moderator will erase them as we post. If any of these 2 suggestions is so, they'll sure have a tough time keepin track of everything that's happening. You've been posting there for centuries, what do you think is going on? I have nothing against using this forum and only this, it's just that this forum is yet to have the information that the MLR offers. Plus, you get Yellow posting great deal on prices, David Power answering PE questions, car sales, etc.
just a thought, no complaints...
cheers

Listen jigga, the admins of the MLR are quite useless, so not really surprise. What??? You're happy that David Power gives his knowledge to people??? Do you want to break your car? Or at least have it performing badly. Cause that's whats gonna happen if you listen to him...
Seriously, there's a lot of people that are unhappy with PEs work, including me. Today at the Nürburgring my PE ECU showed again how to completely reduce performance and make problems.
And to your thing about the MLR having more information, well, I agree there isn't that level of knowledge here, YET. It will come here slowly and it helps if people with more knowledge, like yourself, will post here. That will lift the level of this place.

Although this is not an "official" explination of what is happening on the mLR, it will at least give the facts as to what is happening, rather than the guesses we see above.
The MLR committee made thye decision to postpone changes to the MLR forum in the light of feedback from MLR members. As a members club, the committee are responsible to that membership and it has become clear that the membership wanted various options explored. Below is the official word posted on March 1st.
"Everyone,
Taking into account the positive and negative feedback we have received over the past few weeks regarding the move to write only access for MLR members, we are considering implementing a facility to allow guests to login alongside the original change proposal.
This will allow potential and new owners to ask questions throughout the Forum about the cars, as well as finding out about what the MLR can offer as a club. The process for guest registration is something we are still considering and will communicate it as soon as we have a satisfactory solution, but until this is implemented write access will remain open to everyone.
Other facilities we are also considering including are;
a scheme for traders and a specific area on the board for them to post information, deals and offers on products - which we hope will answer the many concerns raised over 'trader postings'.
the possibility of a MLR chat room facility. This will be considered and evaluated further once the changes to the forum become active.
an upgrade of the Forum using (possibly) vBulletin or another suitable package, and eventually a refresh of the whole site.
We're still confident that restricting write access to MLR members and traders who support the MLR is the best way forward, to improve the quality of postings and therefore the Board in general, to minimise legal exposure to the MLR and to link cost of hosting to the number of members . . . but watch this space and hopefully everyone will be happy!"
I hope this clarifies what is happening on the MLR forum.
I, for one, do not see the 2 forums as rivals but catering for a different group of people. I enjoy posting on both and hope that we will see as many as possible making use of both forums.
Regards

Thanks snell, that certainly clarifies things. I also would like to continue taking advantage of both forums. I have found really great people to talk to on this forum, ditto in regards to the MLR. Thanks again...

I am not English, so you are welcome to call me dude, man, bro' or whatever else comes naturally to your mind.

As far as the MLR forum itself is concerned, there is a few people there with some interesting information, but most posts are uninteresting, already answered 100 times etc.
I havent read your boost controller question yet, but I'm sure you could post it here just as well since a boost controller can be used on any turbo car and therefore there should be a lot of people here able to answer it.
Moderators: the moderators on the MLR, or some of them (not Simon = snelson) consider themselves to possess the ultimate answer to things with quotes from various manuals and books and most of all think that it is up to them to tell people what they can or cannot say. An answer of mine toi the Dutch guy concerning his Godspeed brakes problems was recently deleted in the brakes section. I believe that the MLR (as previously stated "officially") wishes to have associations with different UK companies and therefore will delete threads that could be harmful to these companies. Which is, in my eyes, not the point of a forum. The "valuable information exchange" stops where the MLR's financial interests come into play. Something that, from a French point of view, you would rather expect from a US-based forum than from a UK based one!!
Anyway, I dont mind them wanting to have "associations" (understand "financial interest through sponsorship") with anybody, but they want to appear as independant. Which is of course a contradiction in terms.
