Intake idea...

I have a 2002 automatic ES and have a custom SRI. It is located really close to the battery as shown here

There are worse places to put an SRI that will suck up a bunch of hot air so I think I found a decent spot. Anyway, I had this idea (kinda ricey, I don't want people to flame me). What if you ran some piping from the front grill's below the headlights up to near the intake itself and built some sort of box that housed a fan (such as a VERY fast computer fan, or very small, 3-4 inch fan) and ran a switch to that into the interior of the car for your control (so when you turn off the car and it is wired straight to the battery, it won't keep running). This will bring a good amount of cool air into the air filter directly and at fairly high speeds. I got this idea from the leaf blower movie clip and just a CAI. I am sure someone else has thought of this and maybe even posted about it but I just wanted to see what you all thought of it.

its already been done, but without the fan/blower part.
do a search for "ram air"
someone used dryer ducting to pull air from the bottom part of the bumper on the drivers side. A few people have done it i think.
but Like i said do a search and you will find info on it

Have you considered ordering the carbon fiber Evo style hood duct from RRM?

It would look better than using drier ducting. I have one, I just never felt like cutting my hood.

yeah with that close up pic, i dont like it so much anymore. But What you can do fairly easy is just put the stock air duct back on and it tunnels air from the grill to the filter. Then run all the tubes you want from the lower bumper up to the intake.

I made a heat shield for extra support but you dont need to.
