I just found out today that I paid for an extended bumper to bumper warranty. My car comes with 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper and 5 year 60k mile power train, but I was charged $1300 to extend the 3 year 36k mile to a 5 year 100k warranty. I'm wondering if I should keep the extended warranty, I still have the option to decline it, and my thinking is that I don't need the extended warranty. I would like some input and opinions from fellow members on this subject, thanx!
hmm, if you are going to be doing a lot of heavy engine mods very soon, then get your money back, but if you dont think you are going to be doing anything that will damage your engine (boost) then keep it. having a warrenty when you cant use it is pointless if you do heavy engine mods, in my opinion.
I too have been rethinking the purchase of the extended warranty on my 03 Lancer. I have heard that extended warranty companies are EXTREMELY picky on what they cover and what they don't and they almost all work strictly on a reimbursement basis. You pay for the work and then file a claim with them. I have heard that they will find every which way possible NOT to pay a claim. Any one ever have to deal with an extended warranty through Mitsubishi?

I think I'm going to cancell my extended warranty, $1300 is alot of $ for the extension, would like more input though and/or experience with this. I don't feel so bad now, my car is going to be $18,890 out the door when I cancell the extension.

Well, I went to the dealer today and cancelled my extended warranty, It'll be refunded to me in 4-6 weeks. On top of that it'll be prorated and a $25 fee will be taken from the refund...so I figure I should be getting a check for $1100-$1200, time for some new wheels!
Can you cancel an extended warranty? 'Cause I got mine, not thinking about what engine mods would do to make it null and void, and afterwards questioned how smart it was to shell out the extra $$ for it.
I've had the car a year though, I highly doubt you can still cancell the warranty.

Go to your dealer or find out who provided the extension,
dealers use a different co. to provide the extended warranties, mine did anyway. If you get rid of it they do a prorate depending on your mileage and time of ownership.
Good luck!
