I am starting this thread to clear up quite a bit of stuff regarding road race motorsports. First of all, they are the company I turn to for lancer products. Nobody has a more complete line of products and the amazing customer service to back it up.
One of my most recent experiences with RRM has coming with using their Piggyback computer that has come under fire recently. I had it reflashed for FREE, installed, and then tuned by a local shop. My first impressions of the piggyback was it might have been a waste of money, not giving me that much power. I had a shop tune it for me and this brought out even more power. The software is a piece of cake to use as long as you have a wideband, you can datalog, monitor your car etc. The piggyback brought so much power to my car it was unbelievable. I took it off its tune one day and drove around that whole day without the piggy leaning the car out. The difference was amazing. EVERYWHERE in the powerband, the piggyback makes a huge difference. It is definately true that they say it is the single most effective mod short of a turbo. This isn't a little kids device, it does everything an AFC does and more.
I recently bought the headers for my car and love them, Road Race got me what I needed and now my lancer can compete with many other cars out there.
All I can say is

I believe, all one has to do is look at all the griping about - the others- new companies and you'll find your answer. Sure, road race is pricey, and I have only bought small mods from them - but everything (including my piggy) bolts right up and works like a charm. And yes, their customer service is great... I'll sum it up like this:
A month or two ago I sent an email to RRM in re: to new products, what they thought about A2 designs and all their new stuff out there. I can't remember who wrote back, but their answer then was "A2 who?". Sure enough, I come back to this forum a couple weeks later and read all kinds of posts about troubles with the new parts providers. I think RRM summed it up well. These new pop up companies just reming me of fly-by-night business. RRM does have prime pricing - but I think for the most part you get what you're paying for. In the parts, the technical help, customer service, etc. For people like me, who are rather not mechanically inclined they are the best. Maybe if I were a guru I'd be more willing to mess with a brand new companies' products, but I am not a guru - I like things to go right in and work right the first time.

Thanks for all the good words. On pricing... A lot of stuff we have is competitive for sure. Header $299 cheaper than most, CAI intake, $189, cheaper than most.... I am sure you can find the opposite too but stuff that we can make or buy for cheap, we pass t he saving on to you guys. Other stuff is bought in low numbers or made in low numbers so we don't get a good deal. We would rather keep a standard of quality than chase after ebay sellers guy making stuff out of house that is super inferior, or junkyard recyclers and give out junk like what has gone on. I know who all these guys are but will spare you names. Thanks though. We wanted to be the best, not the biggest and not the cheapest! Mission accomplished!

Back before my Evo, I bought some stuff for my 03 OZ rally Edition from RRM. I got Straight forward mods that actually worked, no hype. The pricing? Well the stuff actually works. They actually built Lancers from just about Day 1, so it is tested and can be seen. The RRM turbo kit is the only one I would have trusted for my ride and that price is actually a pretty good deal...
I just dont really understand how people think... Like really... Is it worth saving 50 bucks for parts that might not work? That might not be as reliable?...
Your stuff works, and that's more than enough for me to keep buying.
I guess a lot of people never bought anything from bad setups (cough, A2) to actually realize how good RRM really is.

i always figured that if you spent all this money on the car, then why would you cheap out on "upgrades". i've loved all my rrm parts. the recent variety on the market tempted my money saving instincts, and it's a shame that others have been unsuccessful guinea pigs. nevertheless rrm seems to have been true to the lancer since day 1, and i know part of it is just business, but come on, anybody making parts for the lancer is doing someone a favor.
