Magnaflow Catback on its way..

The MSRP on the lancer cat-back system is $492.83. It is not going to be
available for about 45-60 days. The part # that you will need is 15805.

If you all dont go with Magnaflow I will beat everyone of you into a bloody pulp!!!

That is my buddy Adam you talked to, he is a good guy to know there, he is VERY knowledgable and knows his ****. If he says that's when it will be out, then that is the date. I would never reccomend anything but Magnaflow...

However I am going with the greddy exhaust. please don't kill me. I don't want to die yet. from what I have read I like the #'s for greddy a little more... otherwise Magnaflow all the way

so what happen to us guys with the Magnaflow axle back?? would they sell us the piping we need to complete our exhaust?

Totally different system, the Maganflow axle-back is a RRM thing, not Magnaflow product. SO I doubt Magnaflow would sell the completing pieces. At any rate, get the full catback, they test it for flow charateristics to get every last bit of horsepower out of it. Thats why I never got why people would get a custom Midas job, just not the same...

honestly, you are throwing about a 100 bucks or more out the window buying the catback from magnaflow. Just go to some small exhaust shop near where you live and have them do a custom magnaflow catback. That is what I did and all told it cost me a whopping 330 bucks with 2.25" pipe all the way back and two mufflers (one as a resonator, and one as the final actual muffler)

I rather have a direct bolt on replacement. Just less of a headache for the future.....I got a extra $100 to spend, thats only a half a day at work.... but i have 16 hour days

So i take it your muffler shop you goto has a mandrel bender on hand and used all stainless piping for your car?

Or did he just use almunized piping and a crimp bender so you have even more restrictions than a Magnaflow catback setup, they use all stainless steel piping at 2.25" and all there pipe is mandrel bent, which means all flowing, there are no crimps in there bends and no restrictions

but if you feel like you saved money and recieved the same power that this catback will give, then that's cool....

Yeah I suppose But us poor people or something.

Actually I was spending nearly 2.5K on the car and was trying to do as much as I could for that 2.5K so I pinched every penny to get the most out of it. There also was no magnaflow catback when I did my exhaust 2-3 months ago. I absolutely love it and it sounds fantastic. Everyone that hears the exhaust is super super impressed. I always get "Best sounding 4-banger I've ever heard" from people which is a good compliment. Especially coming from guys who like muscles cars to guys who are import fans to those who just don't like rice .

Well first of all.. from a fluid dynamics perspective those crimped bends that you refer to actually add about 3 inches of head (fluids term referring to restriction forces) to the overall thing and when you consider that the piping is somewhere in the 100inches of length... I'm not real concerned with it. As far as your mandrel bender, that just crimp bends and then pulls it to remove the crimps. Which actually weakens the wall of the pipe a fair amount and in some severe cases can generate enough of a venturi from the poisson reaction of stretching the pipe that you actually generate a much worse restrction than a few of the ridges and crimps from a hand bender.

As far as aluminized pipe... they just used galvanized and considering that exhaust system typically last about 10 years anyway and my whole install is lifetime guranteed I don't really give a **** if it is aluminized or galvanized or whatever not concerned with anything other than whether or not it last in the relative sense of me having to spend money to replace it.

So I'd rather save the 100 bucks have a well done custom job then spend the extra money plus the shipping just to have mandrel bends and stainless piping that doesn't get me anywhere. Not to mention that it means supporting small businesses and giving money to a pretty damn cool shop owner.

As far as gains... i definitely can tell that there are horsepower gains, considering that there is more variation from car to car than dyno to dyno then actual horsepower gained with an exhaust I don't think we'd ever be able to officially tell if my exhaust was gaining less or more than the magnaflow one... and like I said above... it wasn't available when I was doing my exhaust I don't think!

Either way though... Magnaflow kicks *** :-)
