Whats a good headlight conversion for the Lancer OZ (2003)?

Im looking for a good conversion for my headlights. I have changed the bulbs before, and well, they looked great for about 3-4 months and then they lost the sharp color and eventually faded out so i couldnt see anything at night.

So i know HID conversions usually cost alot, but is there a cheap version that works just as well for the 2003 OZ Lancer? Im a college student so its a little tough to pay off really expensive things at the moment.

Either that, or can someone link me to some high quality and nice crisp colored headlight bulbs that dont burn out (at least for a really long time).

Thanks in advance.

Running HIDs on a non-HID headlight housing is a very bad idea. The glare will be crazy and you'll blind oncoming traffic. Just buy some nice bulbs like Sylvanias.

Are they actually white or the generic yellowish kind? Right now i switched in my old "ultra white" ones and they have always looked like the generic stock yellow.

Really................, huh.

FWIW, I have a set of 6k HID's in my non-HID Evo housing and with very minor adjustment (Mitsu sets the lights just a tad low) they look great. Also did a 04 Ralli-Art with the 8k HID kit couldn't look better, again with very minor adjustment, and what a differance in light output!!!! Yes, I also got into a differant car and had a friend pass me on the road to ensure that their wasn't any glare or blinding light. Just my 2cents.

i see your point but there is no way you can say HIDs in stock housings do not produce glare. i don't know about how you set up yours on the ra and evo but other lancers, civics, accords etc with HIDs in stock housings that i have seen have a ton of glare.

even if you search on this site you'll see a thread or two that states how bad lancer HID glare is with pictures of a lancer with HIDs. i'm not trying to knock what you did, just trying to offer another perspective

mine are white, although some ppl say they look bluish white, i'm completely satisified with them and its the best 30 bucks i couldve spent on my car :P the kits arnt worth it 2-300 bucks, i'd rather keep stock ones and save the $$$

It's quite dependent on the car. Base lancers don't even have HIDs as an option, thus the headlight housing was designed to only be used with bulbs.

Well can someone link me or give me the name of a good bulb, preferably under $50.

The first ones i bought were supposed to be "ultra white", and they did look white when you look directly at them but they shine the stock yellow. The second ones i bought at first were great, a nice crisp blueish white color, but after months the blueish part started to go away so it was a good white (not yellow), then eventually even that wore off so it was a very very dim white. So dim that its not safe to drive.

Just go to an auto store and get some Sylvania silverstar ultras, they're supposed to be very bright.

I bought Silverstars at Advanced Auto Parts, thats what i use now. They basically look like stock yellow lights just slightly brighter.

Im looking for brighter and a better color, not the stock yellow.
