Question

Looks very photochopped. Why are LanEvo's always depicted backfiring? Do they actually do that regularly, and if so, uh, why?

The rally Evo seems to backfire all the time. I have the 99 video and in it they show Makinnen jumping in Finland, and as he is in mid air, the car does this major backfire. It's pretty cool.

Huh, I would've thought that'd be really bad for a turbo car. The anime series Initial-D (always a source of perfectly accurate technical information... heh ) depicts an Evo III backfiring, and a big deal is made about how it has a "misfiring system" like the WRC car, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean, and ever since I saw that I've been wondering what the heck was up with that.

I'm not sure if it should be happening in a regular Evo, but I guess with all the special stuff they have on the rally cars that it may be normal for them.

When I was about 18 (ten years ago) my brother came over to the states to try and get a job (from England). He settled in and started doing home repair for people, at the same time he was applying to get a Greencard. After a few months he decided to buy a old style Ford Probe, they were new at the time. So he got this car and then found out that my dad was taking a job in England for 2 years, so we all decided to move over there, even though my bro had just moved here. Well, he didn't want to sell his new car, so he decided to ship it to England. At that time the Probe had not been released in England, so everyone would stop and stare wherever he went, it was amazing. He loved it, and was always posing, and stuff. Well, one night when we coming home from a night out in London we were on one of the highways doing around 70 MPH. All of a sudden this black Ford Sierra Cosworth pulls up next to my brother. To this day I doubt that the car was street legal because it just looked like professional race car. It was fully sponsored by Pirelli and the whole package just looked to real to be a replica race car. So my brother, who thought his car was great, accelerates, and gets about 3-4 car lenghts ahead of thing. At this point were doing about 85-90. Next thing you know the Cosworth is back, just chillin next to us. All of a sudden you hear this car downshift, the exhaust goes absolutely ballistic, and a 3 foot flame shoots out of the exhaust. Within about 5-6 secs this thing was gone, I just laughed.

Thumbs up

Heh, some of those Ford Cosworths are insane, I've seen bits about them in the American magazines and a few TV shows. Of course, we get nothing like them, oh well.
