ground & voltage stabilizer problem

my buddy club ground and energy stabilizer just arrived today. i installed the grounds and everything. the only left is for me to put the connections off the battery terminal. i hook the positive first then the negative terminal. right after i connected it, the cable that runs from the voltage stabilizer to the positive terminal starts to heat up and little smoke cam out from the insulator of the cable. did i do something wrong? need help! i'll post some pics

Yow. That sounds bad. I'm not big on wiring, but it definitely sounds like something was mis-wired or crossed.

something has been wired to a positive terminal.

Test it safely your-self.
Take a wire and connect both side on a AA battery and feel how quickly it heats up.

Smoke can after what point? after you connected the postive lead or the negative? In which order did you install it? + then - ? If you saw/smell smoke, that wire (a possibly the unit itself) is probably toast!
