2008 Lancer GTS Coming in Tomorrow
goging over bumbps is fine...and the stereo definaltey sounds really good....i had alpine all around in my old lancer and i am deffinaltey pleased at the new setup its nice and clean
In the CNET video when he flips open where the AUX jack is it shows yellow, red, and white jacks. The yellow is for video and the red and white are RCA jacks. My question is I just came back from test driving a GTS with Navigation and it only had the red and white RCA jacks with no yellow jack. Does the yellow jack only come with the technology package? This GTS did not have that package which includes the fast key.

I have a GTS with both the Sun/Sound pkg and Nav/Tech pkg. My car has the aux yellow along with the red/white inputs. If the car had nav but only the red/white inputs, i would guess the nav was installed at the dealership instead of at the factory.
I have the GTS was the same packages above ^. My car has the three plugs yellow, red, and white. My iPod works very nicely once I start moving it just throws up a screen that states no video can be displayed but the sound still works. It was nice to see that work that was the one thing that I had worried about not working once the car was moving.
Onto Fast Key, I have it and it is great.
The key Fob itself has four buttons on it.
Lock, Unlock, Truck, Panic.
(Since having the car I have never pushed on of those buttons)
It also has a little lock/switch on the back. Once hit the Key ring top can be pulled off to reveal a key. That is just in case the battery dies on your fob.
Once the fob is within 30 inches of the car you can grab a hold on one of the two front doors and it will unlock just that door by default. It does not work on the back doors.
The truck also has a small button on the hatch just over the Lancer emblem that you can push to pop the truck without hitting the fob. Works very well!
Once inside the car just keep the fob in your pocket the ignition has no place for a key all you need to do is turn the knob that the car starts. If you battery fails in the fob all you need to do is pull the knob off the steering colunm to reveal a spot for a key.
If you want to lock the car you just get out shut the doors. You must shut all the dorrs for it to work. (Not like my Jetta where if one door is open it will still lock the rest and then lock that one when closed) This car has a long beep to warn you it did not lock the doors and that one is open. Once all are closed there is a little black button right on the handle of front doors. Hit it and the car locks.
In the Nav system there is also a couple settings for time out of the fastkey and other settings I like. Which are unlocking all four doors when the car is placed in park, and unlocking all four doors when you grab one of the front doors. Makes it nice for the whole family getting in the car and out of the car. (Warning: As my wife would say****this setting is not good if someone is chasing you through a parking lot or if you stop some place that is not safe and you place the car in park...)
If you leave the car while it is running with the fob in your pocket it the car will start beeping. If you hit the lock button on the door I think it stops beeping and is ok sitting there without the fob in it. I tested that by accident so I am not 100% sure of that. As far as I can tell the car does not shut it self off.
There is only one more feature that would have been really handy here, Automatic Start. I have an after market unit installed on my Jetta and it is sooo nice. I plan on doing one on this car also the only problem is I will have to carry another key fob just for the auto start. Plus with the whole key fob in the car thing I am not sure how it will work.
Hey if anyone wants detailed testing of anything or pics let me know. I am a network Systems Administrator by day so I like to poke the buttons and test options. Let me know.
