Lancer aftermarket blues
Don’t get me wrong – I love my Lancer. But after reading several magazines, performing some internet searches and reading numerous posts on this forum it is my opinion that the aftermarket support for the Lancer is just not there. Sure there are some great companies that support the vehicle but after reading the current Import Tuner magazine I was amazed at the number of companies that deal with aftermarket parts that don’t have anything listed for the Lancer. Now with the remake of the 2004 Lancer with the new engine I would expect to see less being made available for the current Lancer models in the future. So if you intend to mod your vehicle I would recommend doing it soon before those lovely turbo kits cease to exist. Of course I invite any and all responses and/or flames. Convince me otherwise cause right now I’m kinda depressed.
If I wanted a Honda/Acura Ricer I would have bought one. So what if the Lancer aftrermarket scene is not as prominent as Hondas...Big Whoop. Fact is it has grown exponentially these last couple of months and it's not like we are lacking for much.
Also, RMR and RRM have been specializing on Mitsu Lancers-Evos for so long that other after market companies are reluctant to join the fray because these 2 companies not only have the market on lock...they supply quality products.
In my opinion Less means more...and keeps our rides Rice free! And keeps Ricers off these boards!
What exactly are you looking for that you cannot find a part for?
Maybe we can help you find it

If your car isn't modded enough for your tastes then you're just not trying hard enough. Granted it's far more costly than an H&A, but there's nothing that's impossible if you've got the gumption.
Thanks for the response guys. I was just showing my concern that the aftermarket for the lancer is slim and since Mitsi is changing the Lancer next year; new companies may hold off on making products for a vehicle that was only available for what – 3 years? I am not ignoring RRM or RMR. My hats off to RRM for what I think is excellent work. ROCK rocks. They offer a good variety at very good prices. AEM – CAI at $210 - bought it. Greddy CAT back at $489 – my wallet is again getting pretty hot. RMR I have yet to buy from probably due to the premium prices they charge and lets not forget RPM down under. From what I’ve seen on their site they have put a lot of effort into the Lancer. My point is pick up a Magazine and try to find parts advertised for the Lancer. They have yet to even come up with some taillights yet. And yes I have seen the thread for the taillights offered 138 posts and they have yet to be seen by anybody other than pictures. I’m not sure I even want to read these magazines anymore since it seems to be Honda this and Honda that. Rice-rice here and rice-rice there. Here a rice there a rice everywhere rice-rice. Old MacDonald had a Civic E-I-E-I-Oh my god I’m babblingWhat’s an H&A. and it’s not for lack of trying it’s for lack of money.
If the money was there I'd be flying down the interstate with my new RRM turbo screaming like a little girl on a roller coaster.
I belive H&A refers to Honda and Acura.
Just give people time, RRM comes out with new stuff frequently, and we're bound to get some cool appearance mods from Singapore and every other place the Virage is sold.

For the record I love RRM- they're the greatest guys to deal with. But their selection may be more limited than one is looking for- they have that market lock that was mentioned before. That being said, RPW is a compay that is often overlooked and has been modding DSM's for a really long time. The only part that they don't advertise on thier site is an affordable shock upgrade- they may offer the $1200 Teins.
SRIs, throttle bodies (bored out all the way up to quads), headers with downpipes (ask ghostrider how he loves his), exhaust, CAIs, brakes, engine rebuilds, cam gears, ECUs.... name it, they have it.

That's the 4g94 Lancer page. They'll also tell you that 95% of mirage parts fit our cars. Maybe not 100% true if you drive an OZ but it's worth a look. Vision imports is a dealer in the US and OZrallyGuy is trying to get something going with them as well.
I feel your anxiety about the aftermarket, given all of the Mitsu changes that are coming up. But we'll just be that much more unique and inventive

I agree with you, Dr. Ray. Although RRM and RMR (and even some others now) offer quite a bit for the Lancer, there are some parts that just have limited options. I think we just need to be strong in expressing our demand, and then companies will see a market worth going after. That's why I had a thread asking people to email Koni and KYB asking them to start making struts and shocks for the US Lancer. Voices are heard, people doing silent searches on the internet and magazines aren't as effective. Good luck!
i agree with badboy. just give the lancer time. itll reach a class of its own over time. ive been noticing more lancers on the streets today then on the day i bought mine. i would feel that RRM and RMR will not stop work on the lancer because its becomming so popular. the more popular lancers become the more money they make. so basically when lancers become popular RRM and RMR will rake money in and they will continue to make parts because they know that they can make a profit off the parts. so im trying to persuade you dont loose hope in ur lancer
Thanks for all the great input guys. Believe me I'm not giving up on the Lancer I enjoy driving the car so frigging much. Just looking at the vehicle I think "what a sexy beast". Probably enjoy this car more than any other I have owned. 43 years old I've owned a few. Since I've started this thread I've seen RRM come out with new stuff and are hinting at some new "secret" item soon to be released. There is a Lancer in NJ that is being fitted for a new supercharger and Magnaflow's catback exhaust is coming out in the next 3 months. RRM is fantastic - ordered a AEM CAI from them at 210 shipped and received it on the very day they said it would arrive. Their current special for the Greddy catback is giving me fits - should I bite the bullet or wait for Magnaflow? Decisions decisions. And who needs internet **** when you can look at that picture of the intercooled turbo kit. Man that's gotta feel great when that boost kicks in. I've been to the RPW site and they definately are stacked with Lancer mods. So I definately feel better about what's going on out there. Be cool.
Little secret - RPW is going to be coming with some great new products for the lancer range very soon within the next three months and is already in discussions with MItsubishi Japan about the new upcoming lancer model.
Garaunteed within four weeks of its release we will have throttle bodies, extractors (Headers) anc camshafts for it.
Keep an eye on our website for some new information - so don't give up there is a lot of support there locally in the USA and ourselves of course you don't need 300 companies selling stuff as that means 200 companies selling junk and 100 companies trying to survive in the middle.
At least with the companies you do have the products are all good products built to all our own differing idea's. You are all actually lucky to have teh choice between some great products.

I've seen the TYC tails in CF on a Thunder Gray Lnacer ES and they look great. They fit perfectly with no issues whatsoever. I was one that didn't ever wanna get Altezza's for my car but after seeing them I think I want them. Who knows. Maybe after I get boosted I'll think about it a little more.
