Which Lancer to buy?

Hey there I'm new to this site and pretty new to the hole driving world. I only got my drivers lience about 6 months ago and have been driving a truck pretty much the entire time. I recently started to look into getting a Lancer but im not sure what to be looking for. I don't have loads of money to spend either so that could be a problem. I've seen some ok used OZ Lancers in my area for sale, but sadly no evo's. Again I'm not sure what would be the best car for me. I need something thats going to get me out to school everyday, but I also would like to get into preformance cars and racing. Any imput would be rad.

well if you want performance and you have the chance i would go with a different car. not saying our car stinks or anything because i like it but if i had the chance to choose a car i would probably go with a 240sx. but thats just me, our cars dont really have an aftermarket other them RRM and some other companies but just do some research and you can find some cars that you would like!!

if you want to get into runing a car and racing, and do it fairly cheaply while getting good results. Get a Honda, steer far away from any Lancer. If you can afford the insurance on a EVO, get one.

first welcome to the forum!!!

if you have the money, go get the 06 lancer RAlliart. in my opinion they are the best bang for the buck. or you can also get the new 08 lancer (all 3 trims have the same motor unlike the 04-06 lancer).

you can also wait for a year and maybe get the evo X if you're willing to spend can$40+k on a car.

anyway i can see that you are from canada, you might want to check www.mitsunation.net

lol your sentences don't match up!

Getting to school everyday & building a car for racing are two different things; a Lancer could get you to school everyday for years, but isn't really big on the performance part. If you don't have loads of money then do not look for Evo's because they're not cheap cars to own. If you just got your lience buy a used Lancer; it will be cheap and reliable. Welcome to the site and the "hole" were all in due to us being a part of this driving world :

PS: you could probably get an 08 Lancer; the lower models are in the $13-15,000 area.

If you want to get a car that you can tune to the point where it is competitive, then as others have noted, the pre 2008 Lancers are not where it is at. However, they are affordable in terms of both car insurance and cost. As such if you are looking for a car that will get you to school everyday and get you more behind the wheel practice then I would recommend you check out one of the OZ's - not a bad choice for a new driver.

Thanks for the imput and sorry about the sentences not matching up! What i was trying to say is i want a car that down the road sometime i could turn into a racing car. Right now i don't have the funds to build an all out racing car. I just was looking at lancers because i heard they're a great car and plus i love the look of them. I looked into evos and i for sure cannot afford one . However i found a few OZ edition ones for around 12k and one ES for 10k. They all look to be in good condition. Anyways thanks for the imput!

Take a look at the Ralliart. Great bang for the buck and pretty quick. You can get good deals too because quite a few people that buy them don't know what they bought and sell them for the same price as OZ's.
