Part of the problem may be where you live. North Dakota is way far out there. Bigger metro areas might be able to swap inventory and get a bigger allocation of cars.

This is good news for Mitsu, though. People complaing about waiting 3 months for a car lets Mitsu know they've got a really hot car on their hands.

Well i talked to the dealership... The car is being built in Chicago... for you that ordered in April i can see it being end of this month cause i orded in May they say end of july... But i didn't hear anything for a strike. Also they have the ability to check for future build cars everything is spoken for. So yea good for mitsu bad for us that are waiting. I also asked him about after market parts and he said most would void warrenty unless they are oem and installed by them or another mitsu dealer.

O yea my deal is in Fargo ND they can swap with Minnesota... so i think they are a bigger metro cause they could have gotten a Grey one for me with what i wanted. But knowing this is my first car i thought i could wait

I guess I'm lucky. They had an Apex Silver GTS with Sun/Sound, Nav and FAST key 5MT sitting on the lot. I wanted the Graphite Grey but Silver is close enough.

All the other GTS models were CVT though. I got the last 5MT they had.

Ummmm, Lancers built in Chicago? From what I know, which is rather a fact, is that the new Lancers are 100% made in Japan and imported from there. Here in NJ they are selling a lot of new Lancers but also we get weekly deliveries so supply is not an issue.

Amen to that. I was all set to get blue when I went to the dealer to talk price and ordering. Then I saw the brand new Rally Red one they had in the showroom. It was sold the instant I saw it, the red on the 08 Lancers is one of the prettiest reds on any car on the streets IMHO.

GTS Lancers are in very short supply, and there is nothing we can do about it. I'm sorry for sounding harsh, but it is what it is. Mine is somewhere on the sea right now. Mitsu knows about the shortages, and is working hard to fix it, but we will have to wait for now.

I Got Lucky

I was just looking the day I bought mine and never really intended to but that day. I was getting ready to leave the dealer because the did not have any GTSs on the lot and I knew I wanted the fully loaded GTS CVT. Just as I was getting in my car a truck came in with 2 fully loaded GTS models in white and black. They took them off the truck and 2 hours later I drove the white one home. I really pissed some people off because they had been waiting for them for a few weeks, but my dealer does not take deposits, so it is first come, first served. One couple showed up from an hour drive to get the white one they had wanted and were definately not happy to know it had sold as soon as it hit the pavement. Their salesman called them hoping I would go with the black one instead of white.

Up north here in Canada, we get our lancers built directly in Japan and shipped over complete...

As far as I know, all Lancers are assembled in Japan. My window sticker says Mizushima, Japan was the final point of assembly. I believe only the Galant and Eclipse are assembled in Normal, IL. Next time you're at a dealer, look for the little sticker on the drivers side rear window.
