Gauge cluster
I seen someone mention this in another thread, but it wasn't really that clear and no one seemed to agree. But, if you buy a new gauge cluster, like I'm thinkin an OZ one for my ES, if the cluster is brand new, your mileage will show up at 000 even if you have 20,000 miles? Could I then just sell the car with 000 miles on it? Not that I would though, hehe.
I know someone had about 20,000 miles on his car, bought a used cluster on E-Bay and when he installed it the odometer showed him as having about 10,000 miles on it. I don't know about new clusters though. But if you sold the car like that then it would be very bad because and decrease the value of the car drastically because under mileage it would say something like, "Exact Mileage Unknown." If you get something notarized (sp?) saying something like, "I had 20K miles on my car and the new guage says 10K (or 0)," then it would be legit because you could figure out the true milage by doing some simple math. Hope this answers your question.
