I hate how the Cigarette lighter turns off when the car turns off. only car ive had that does it. makes it pointless to have a car charger for my phone. Was curious if there was a way to change this and if it would hurt anything to do it?

 

There is a way, but that's up to you to figure out. Mitsu made it that way for a reason. Glad my radar detector doesn't stay on while not in the car...

 

Wire it straight to the battery.
Make sure you don't leave anything on it for too long when the car is off though. If you do, you'll then understand why it was built that way in the first place.

 

Buy a 2008 Lancer. Cig lighter turns off then the car does, but the extra one in the console doesn't.

Ok here's what I did... If you've ever installed a car radio before you know that there is a yellow and a red wire. Yellow is you memory or constant 12v wire and red is the ignition(when the key is turned). What I did was wire a switch connecting the two wires so that everything would function normally and if I wanted to have the keys out of the car I could flip the switch and have the cigarette lighter and cd player on...
