New Lancer Owner

Hello, I just purchased a 2002 Lancer ES from a buddy at work. I paid 1000.00 for it. I ordered a body kit already it should be here on the 28th. Now it has high mileage and I am looking to build another engine for it.

Should I stay with the 4G94 or go with something like the 4g64. I really do not want to go with a turbo setup right now maybe in the future. It will be used to drive daily, but I want to have alittle more power for the weekends. Suggestions? Thanks.

By the way I have searched readed as much as possiable the last week. I see everyone said its a waste of time and money building a 4G94 if it is not turboed.

Thanks
John

Wow! Nice purchase! Yeah, you've got it right...F/I or take a seat. Why not buy a spare block, build it with forged internals, and turbo it? Body kit should have taken a back seat to performance (just my opinion).

Well as far as the body kit. I forgot to say my buddy put a Walker front bumper on it and ripped it completely off within 4 hours after it was installed. So he drove around with no front bumper for 6 months. So my wife said we need a front bumper. I was going to spend $160+ for a bumper and got the whole kit for $400.00 shipped.

Now that what I was going to do. Find a complete engine from the junk yard and rebuild it with all the goodies. I really would like to build a FI engine, so I am leaning that way. Thank you..John

There will be those that say doing anything to the 4g94 isn't worth it. I would do as you said and build a new engine and go FI. You can get some nice gains if you stick with it and know your limits.

Good luck bro.

Congrats man! You got a sweet deal. You definately should build up a motor and turbo it. RRM has proven reliability with the 4G94 boosted. It's just a matter of being safe and knowing your limits.

Congrats.

Buy another 4G94. Slap in some forged pistons and rods. Then either buy a turbo kit or a big nitrous bottle.

Congrats!

Post some pics when you are done with the kit.

The guy are right from what I hear on this site, 4G94 FI is reliable as long as you don't over do it with boost (and build it properly). But, that only if you want to go fast. If you don't mind jogging instead of running, you could stick with NA.
