Anyone gone Evo to 08 GTS?

Usually I see people trading Lancers for Evos, anyone have experience going the other way? I'm needing to get something less expensive and more efficient. It will clearly be slower since it's about 200hp less than my car has now, but is that lack of power gonna drive me completely nuts and make me miserable? Or will a fully loaded GTS have enough other stuff (Stereo, Nav, Bluetooth, etc) that I'll enjoy those comforts enough to overlook the change in performance?

I test drove a 5-speed GTS this past weekend.

I rode in a 2008 lancer uh, a week and a half ago... it was comfortable, the power was okay, but when I really wanna go fast, I jump on the bike. I enjoyed the stereo with the built in ipod hookup and the stereo controls on the steering wheel.

I'm serious.

Got some changes coming up in a few months and I need to do the responsible thing and get something more practical. I've had a great experience with my Evo, so why not stick with a Mitsu? The GTS has a lot of cool features, it's just missing some ***** under the hood. My thinking is that just about anything new and less expensive is gonna be slower, so I may as well get a car with lots of features.

What's not practical about an Evo? 4-door. Lots of room. Comfortable. Better gas mileage than an SUV if you don't floor it constantly. Roomy trunk. Unless you got a full cage installed and the interior gutted, the Evo is quite practical.

The $750/month between payment/insurance.

I remember seeing another person doing the switch. They wanted better gas milage, the lower payment/insurance and also the warranty. Everyone has their priorities, so just ignore the people flaming you for switching to less power

yeah i've seen a thread similar to this one. unless you race your evo the 300 hp isn't needed on the streets, and fwd wont kill you either

I can't be flamed...I hang out in OT.

I'll see if I can find that thread, see if that person has any regrets. If there was another option, I'd take it. But short of winning the lottery, it's a sensible place to cut some unnecessary costs out.

The 08 still uses the flawed lower control arm snapping design. Don't get it.

There's a flaw in the lower control arm design of the 04+ Lancers where welds have fractured and come apart catastrophically. It's happened on at least a handful of Ralliarts, that we know of. It's quite likely that next year, when I replace my struts, I'll also be throwing on some used Evo lower control arms. They're the better built aluminum pieces.

If I were the quoting type who puts stuff other people say in their signature I'd be all over this. Funniest thing I've read today.

I don't think you're going to find many that have gone from Evo to GTS.
