replace the timing belt, accessory belts, water pump, plugs, wires, transmission fluid and of course keep up on your oil changes, and maybe periodically throw some seafoam in there

check out the timing belt for sure... you should have a bit of time left on it but it takes a few seconds to take off the top half of the cover and give the belt a peek.

check out your other belts while you're under the hood... pop out a plug or two and inspect those. you can also just check out the brakes quickly--you can usually get a peek at the pads by removing only the wheel.

you also might want to consider a transmission fluid change (if you're 5 speed) or a flush if you're automatic.

edit: lame, crypto beat me to the punch on stuff while i was watching tv, eating lunch... oh, and typing.

Basically what crypto said...

you might want to think of a radiator flush and changing out the hoses too. Just check for any leaks under the car or any tears in the CV boots. Just please don't go to the dealer to get the work done. I know theyll charge you up the *** and then you'll come back like.... " the dealer is charging me $2100 to do a tune-up. What should i do?? blah blah blah" Just do it yourself and quit crying.

I got 56k on mine so i'll be doing the same in a few months after i get home.

Thanks for the topic. I'm somewhere around 53k I think, but I forget what the next service is. Is it the 60k? Well anyways, last time I was at the dealer and asked about it, he said it was only like $70 I think. I'm wondering what all it entails. I really should give him a call.

My engine has a squealing noise going on, sounds just like a loose or bad belt. Might even need a tranny fluid change. I'll be checking back to this thread.

what exactly did he say he'll do for $70 cus its like u can't get any service from a dealership without spending at least couple of hundred bucks.

Exactly, I was completely shocked when he said that. In fact, I'm going to make the phone call right now.

There is no way they will do a 60k check up for 70 bucks. They usually want between 500-700... you can go to any competent shop and get it done for 300 or less. Do it yourself and you'll save even more.
