What oh what should I do. Ideas, comments and complaints welcome.
I got the radio relocation kit for 2 reasons. One, the glare was a **** during the day. My head unit is one of the newer Pioneers with the multicolor face, and I'll be damned if I wasn't having to put my hand over it just to read the damn thing. Second reason, security. I do not like the fact of my $300 radio sitting there front and center screaming for attention. I live in a so-so apartment complex, and security is a huge factor for me.
So, I relocated the radio down to the bottom. Problems solved. Hardly any glare, and you barely can see it from the outside of the vehicle if you were walking by it taking a peak inside. I'm a very happy camper.
Now, here lies my next situation. I have the stock radio in the stock hole, just to fill the gap. Looks completely stock (duh). I'm wanting to do something with this hole, instead of wasting it with that damn radio that I'll never use again. I'm selling it by the way, cheap cheap cheap. I was looking around in the for-sale section, and I saw the black factory Mitsu 3 gauges that fit in its place. On the good side, I think that'll look extremely sexy, since I'm keeping the dash completely stock (black). On the bad side, why in the blue hell do I need gauges? I'm not going turbo, it'll probably just sit there for years and years, cause I'll be too lazy to look into hooking up the oil and voltage gauge.
And uh, can you say rice? Nothing like having gauges in your ride that do not function. Especially for a turbo which I do not have. Ugh.
I even thought about a radio delete panel. What is it, like 7 bucks. Just pop it in and go, right? Then there's the option of buying a CF panel with no DIN hole to begin with. Problem is, it'll go against my complete stock (black) dash. Not to mention that your stock piece just gets wrapped. I'd prefer the real thing.
I recall reading about Rexspeed or someone coming out with Dry Carbon REPLACEMENTS. No wraps. Uhhh, can you say hotness??? But, here we go again with the clashing of stock blackness. And lots of $$$$$$$$$. LOL. Also, they probably will not even have a piece with the DIN not cut out.
I think I've tried getting my thoughts out the best I could, and I apologize for having to read a lot of words.

just put in the guages. Its not too ricey, it'll look nice and still serve a purpose. put a vac guage in, maybe some oil guages. They will be good for just monitoring your car in general.

Why don't you just get the cubby hole thing that fits in the radio din spot? That way you have all the same stock uses, but in different locations. And by the way, the ralliart isn't turbo, so there's no boost gauge on that little 3 gauge panel, I believe it's just oil and volts monitering.

Boost is pointless without a turbo, battery is kinda useful if you have a large system and temperature is useful if you have a modded engine. I personally don't think it's worth it though since the chances of the gauges being used is pretty small.
boost gauge is rice but I myself... even with my almost stock motor wouldnt mind having...
water temp gauge.
oil pressure gauge.
and some other gauge I cant think of.
Just to keep an eye on how thecar is doing because if one of those goes wrong. your engine is toast and the lancer doesnt have gauges for these like most other cars do. On the other hand. If your to lazy to install them. dont bother. ha

You can get delete pockets that are single din...( http://cgi.ebay.com/Universal-Pocket...QQcmdZViewItem ).
