Shift knobs for AT
1) The shift rod is 8mm - most shift knobs are 10mm. You could tap the rod then locate/make a 8mm-10mm adapter, then use a MT knob.
2) Or you could buy a generic MT knob with set screws (the three screws you that use to tighten the base; everything from cheapo Walmart knobs up to Sparco knobs use this method) and hope they hold well enough.
I don't know if anyone's tried either method yet. But I figure either one would work fine.
hmmm
1. sounds like it would look better but you might have to get the right height
and
2. ??? that would be the easiest but i would like to know the varieties out there
I think I am going to peep this out sometime this weekend to see if i can do anything.
What category did you drop that sketch on the instructions on the removal of the auto shifter?

OK, so back on the issue of swapping the auto shift knob for an 03 lancer. You can get an auto shifter, most are ugly and huge. I found one on ebay really cheap that looked like a manual knob, it had a slider inside it so you push the whole knob down instead of a button. But it didn't fit right and I still haven't taken the time to mess with it to fit correctly. A manual knob won't work unless you have a way to push it down on the shifter stem to push the button. You can't have it pushed down all the time or you won't be able to take you key out of the ignition. and if you can't push the knob down, you can't get out of park.
how in the world do we post pics in here? lol... cus i found an image that kinda explains how to use a manual knob on AT . i clicked on the insert image icon but it just asks for a URL? i have the pic saved on my harddrive.
In the middle of that is a "Manage Attachments" button.
Click it, then use the "Upload from your computer" section.
Make sure it fits the size requirements.
lanceritis. im sorry i just find the name funny. Me going into Radiology, I had to run through all the Bio-Med classes and medical terminology, anything ending in "ITIS" usually means its inflammed, im very sorry to hear that your lancer is inflammed.

^^ don't be hating ppl haha. man what username i chose is not something that i worry about. its not like i'm one of those junior high students all excited about a cool username to use for AIM or something like that lol. to me the info in the forums is more important than the usernames
