This frigging Lancer ECU / Computer is pissing me off

Ok here i am driving normal on the road everthing seems fine, and for the second time I get a warning about icy roads, ok fine. a few minutes later it gives me the same warning.

20 minutes later gives me the warning again, I take my eye of the road tosee what it is, and when i look up, the light is changing and i am way to late to stop and there is a car making a left turn.

Freeze time:
Option 1) Slam break = result GAME OVER
OPTION 2) SLAM gas = Faster GAME OVER with lots of bonus points
Option 3) evade and make left turn.

option three is the best option driving at 80 km/h on highway 7 in Vaughn, and if anyone knows that road, they know its 3 lane road so I cut to the left, thinking oh boy its game over, but thank god the wheels held up when from the right lane power sliding all the way over to making a left turn, going at least 75km/h.

Thank god for hand brake and thank god the ABS didnt freak when i pushd down on it too. I have never gotten into an accident nore ever pulled over but i am sure if I didnt evade it would have been my first, and if a cop saw that, lol he is lighting me up for sure.

I swear i have never looked in my rear mirror so much before.

WTF, now as much as i would like to blame my ADD, does anyone else find that that warning is a bit distracting? I dont mind it giving me the warning when i start the car or something, but while your driving?

I why dont they maybe beep if the stability control detects slipping? cause if there was ice when i made that wide turn I would have been a goner.

anyways thats my life, lol oh ya, I made that dry turn on stock wheels stock suspension. I have never trusted it cause the car sits too high and the wheel. I guess this lancer gets a 1up in terms of dry performance

thats my rant, i am sure its

Um... we don't have a warning light... there are no 08 Lancer Ralliarts... maybe you should post this in the lancer section for the 08+ models.... If the light is bothering you put a piece of paper over it?

Moved. Also, for your future safety, if you need to panic stop, NEVER use the e-brake, it'll increase your stopping distance and also makes it very likely that the back end will spin around on you. Let the ABS system do what it's intended to do and you'll stop fastest that way.

Yeah also you wouldnt want to put a tape over it since its a warning on the scrolling LCD. But yeah I agree its a bit irritating. I only get it once when the temperature drops under 3c.

my point was that it think it should give you a warning when traction is being lost due to road conditions, not possible Icy, possible Icy doesnt mean **** to warn you about 3 times in a single sitting. I think i have a clue, i think the temp shifted up and down hitting 3'c on those occations.

about about the Ebrake, the point was to powerslide, i was 100 sure the ground was drys and not icy, but if it was, that would have been game over. I have had enough practice doing it on eclipes but never in the lancer.

After this little emergency I am rather more comfy with the car. i didnt quite trust it before.

Atleast you dont have to deal with the icey conditions warning trigging the TPMS warning too :P I have to deal with the TPMS warning when I get into the car, and then once it detects a temperature of less than 3c, the TPMS warning goes off again after the icey conditions warning.

C'mon now. It's a Lancer, not a Benz or BMW. You only get so much fancy electronics for $20-25k.

My friend's Cadillac will tell you the actual PSI of each tire, so you know which is low. My Lancer will just bong at me if one of them is at 27 or lower, and then it's my job to figure out which tire it is.
The "icy roads" is auto-triggered at a certain temperature, as you know. Hell, we don't seem to have TCS, so how could the car use traction readings to measure icy conditions?

Just gotta be realistic.

Its good in a way. Just forces you to be alert, as there are no shortage of drivers out there, who think just because they have winter tires/4x4 that they can drive like maniacs.

if i had my way, i rather no electronics maybe ABS but just barely, the PSI readings, not sure what use they are, people should be checking their tires once a month anyway. if you get a flat you should know.

i have gotten 2, and without a doubt I knew OH CRAP, i got a flat

so i hear its gonna snow tomorrow, thank god i got my exhaust on today, (its at the shop now for final fitment) but i hear a good pile of snow is gonna be here. I am worried bout the tires, the tires i ordered are on the way. looks like the lancer is staying in for a few days

So what if you just happen to be turning, the tires slip, you fly off into a tree, and then your LCD scrolls the "ICE" warning? That doesn't make much sense bro. It warns you of the possibility so you can drive safer and more cautious not normal until the possibilty comes up were you could lose your ride.

If you ask me, your car is doing you a favor by warning you to drive safe so you don't kill yourself and it at the same time.

Hell, you could have been driving over bridges were is there are freezing temperatures and everyone knows water freezes faster on bridges. I don't want the car to warn me that I am slipping. I'm sure I can feel that through my ***. I want to car to warn me before I start slipping even if its every 15 minutes so I can bring both of us home safe!

How retarded would you call your car if you are sitting in your car right after it twisted around a tree and the LCD scrolls Ice Warning...Front Tire Slippage?

true, and good points, i would just rather the ability to turn it off. that and the tire pressure sensors. I will sign off on it. i rather just have to option instead of having it on.

I mean, how fun is it to have your car tell you "tire pressure" when you are running on 16" winters.

some say , why be cheap just buy new sensors, but then you gotta calibrate the new set, then you calibrate when you switch to the other set.

love of god, just turn them all off
