I got an '08 Lancer GTS in July. Love the car. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Only problem is my paint is spackling away on the quarter panel just in front of the rear tires. I got it in black and now on both sides of the car it's a light gray/ white color from where the paint has come off. I basically looks like there was never a clear coat ever put on the car because it's not shiny or anything. It's a dull black and yeah i know the color is supposed to be that way but usually you can see the clear coat or the shine at least a little bit but nope not on this baby. I took it in to have it looked at and supposedly Mitsubishi won't honor the warranty because they say that it was caused by gravel and stuff and they can't control enviromental hazards. So basically I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem or is having this problem and what they are doing about it?

 

Try another dealer. If they give you the same BS answer, contact your regional Mitsu rep and take it from there. Or, you could go back to the first dealer, and ask them to explain how gravel is supposed to jump up and hit the paint in front of the wheel.

 

is it really gravel, or is it flaking chipping of paint?

i would go to a pro body shop and get a second opinion. the dealership is trying to dodge you imo...

oh, and make sure you go to a REALLY REPUTABLE bodyshop for second opinion. i made the mistake of getting cheap repaint on my right fender (i also got black GTS). and i got what i paid for...

 

i got that stuff too...I got mad scratches o nthe air dams in front of the rear wheels my whole front of the hood...has very little dots which shine silver which is because it went through the clearcoat and black paint and has hit metal...its very small though..still pissign me off though
