help plese

first, the incident

my car lost power one night on the freeway, i kept flooring it but it would only maintain about 60mph, so i pull of an exit. When i was waiting to turn into a street i heard loud ticking, probably lifters. I turned the car off to see wat was rong and couldnt get it to start. But later i pressed the remote start button and with 3 tries it started. The loud ticking was still there. So i changed the spark plugs (Bkr7e), oil(20-50), added some lucas oil treatment, and lucas fuel injector cleaner. theres no more ticking.

the problem

after the incident i noticed that when in idle, my exhaust sounds different
it used to go vooooooooooooot. no its more of voot voot voot voot. kinda like pistons going up and down. suggestions on treatment?

Get it checked by a mechanic. It could have been something minor like the spark plugs or it could mean the car is dying.

Mechanic gets my vote. If your car sounds sick, it probably is.

I doubt it's a bent valve, if that happened, the car probably wouldn't move.

your using the wrong oil for that engine boosted or not 20w-50 is way wrong the evo uses mobile 1 10w30 you may have collapsed some lifters (ticking noise)

The evo is a completely different car, the oil has been used in a lot of boosted lancers and I believe it's the recommended weight from RRM.

Please don't talk about things you don't understand. Lancers have been successfully running 20w50 for 5 years.

i knew someone was gonna bring the oil up. not everyones car is successful on the 20w50 non syn. my friend blew his car because of using that oil weight but rrm does recommend using 20w50 non syn.

+1 on fp, if your not to keen on changing things yourself, take to a mechanic and have them take alook. otherwise start changing the basics.

This could be a stretch but did possibly a vacuum line or intercooler piping blow off/loosen? (I see your car is boosted) That would cause the loss of all power and would possibly foul your plugs with a air/fuel mixture that would be WAY off at that point.

Again this is not probable, but if all else fails you might want to check it...
