US Lancer engine SOHC vs others lancer markets engine

Don't know this: in US Lancer have a 2.0l SOHC engine 120hp and in china and taiwan have a 1.8l DOCH 140hp see the picture below:

It's a GDI engine. We currently have no support for such an engine in the US and allegedly the sulphur content of our fuel would cause problems with the direct injection. There's plenty of GDI info on Mitsubishi's website. Some has been posted on this forum as well.

Personally I think that Mitsubishi chose the US engine due to it's comparatively high torque output. Americans like torque. Call it cliche, but it seems to be true for the most part.

No, is a gasoline normal engine not GDI

Its a normal engine similar to first generation US eclipese 1.8l in base model

Oh, just realized that's the new model Lancer/Virage. My bad. I didn't know they were selling them already in Asia. Do you know the engine code they're using on that model?

Sexy...that's definitely the 1.8L just by looking at the intake manifold (stick style vs. 2.0L's "bottle" style). Almost looks like the first generation MIVEC heads.
