Long trips suck...

Heh so at like 300 miles I look under the hood to check the oil and behold the **** is all over the place because i did not put the cap on all of the way ...now i am in the middle of nowhere in a town who has no auto part stores open besides a nappa about 10 miles from where i was at. Figures...anyways they have a new cap for me because the other one was gone and now the inside of my car smells like burning oil...How can i get that smell to go away. I was thinking about using the engine cleaner feature at one of thoes pressure wash places. I was gonna stick a bag over my intake and just wash everything...Good idea or no? Whats the best way for me to get that oil smell out of the vents when I turn on the ac?

That sucks *** dude. I would just spray it with an engine degreaser at a car wash like you said. Other than that, get a new car smell spray or whatever scent, and spray a little in your vents and possibly on your air filter (don't know if you should do that though)....

gunk engine cleaner.

I love the smell of it

that sucks dude. Lucky nothing seriously ****ed up though!
A little clean up is a small price to pay.

Edit: They don't have an auto store open, but the have easily accessable public internet?

what kind of town is this?

Hey Pisetup, what part of VA? I made a round trip of almost 700 miles with my 03 OZ and had no trouble at all in 1 weekend. Got 38.28 MPG doing 75-80 on the interstate.
Getting back on topic, Gunk is the ****!!!! Follow the directions, it cleans up the engine real good. It helps to have a high pressure washer too. Most car wash places frown on using them for engine bay cleaning, go later at night, he-he!!!

Damn, here where I am in CA most car wash places have a setting on the dial for cleaning engines...You'd think they would want that done there where they can separate the crap from the water than just putting it on the street into a drain...

Be careful if you go fireman on your engine. Make sure you avoid fun tidbits like the alternator, any wiring and harnesses, your spark plug coils, and any place where water can sneak into some place it shouldn't be.
